Well I have a problem that needs to be resolved and I'm not sure how to go about it. 3:00 A.M. this morning I went to the bank to check my account and withdrawn a few $$$ for gas later on today and when I got back to the house, I normally back my car into the garage, so....., the motion lights on the storage shed was on and the fence was slightly opened leading to my back yard. Thinking it was a deer, it was three young-ens ran across and hopped over the low fence. I didn't yell or scream but I do own a new pair of used shorts for evidence that this did occur and it's my neighbor's niece who done the hosting with two boys without my permission to use my pool. My neighbor, Pat is at work at this time and soon to be home in a few hours. I want to confront the niece and not say anything to Pat. I will be mowing the lawn later and I hope she (the niece) will call me over wile doing yard duties to apologize, if not, I have no choice but to bring it to Pat's attention. BTW: The motion detection on my house was moved. Now that pissed me off more than the skinny dipping in my pool. What would you do if this happened to you? |

Oh!...I would go over when Pat and her niece were home, take the NEW shorts with you, knock on the door, and hold up the shorts as they answer the door, "Did you forget something last night?"......better to ALWAYS go to the parent/owner, never the child, make the parent/owner aware, relieves you of any responsibility, especially if something bad happened and you ended up in front of a judge
Your choice, even if this person is an adult, this is trespassing, and you can fall at fault if not bringing this to someones attention, should something go wrong! |

For liability issues alone you have to talk to them. For disrespect of your property as well as moving your motion sensor they owe you an apology and two hours yard work, and they have to clean the pool, God only knows what they did in there (*).
Now for the kid factor. They meant no harm, they saw a pool and no one home. . .It was an attractive nuisance. Besides the best tasting corn are the ears you steal out of the farmer's field. BUT--for liability factors they have to know that no more parties without permission. And if you do grant such permission, adults must be present. |

Get a pool alarm. ou can always do the flag thing... when the flag is up the pools open when it's down it's closed. And you can always install a fake security camera on your house aimed at the pool or a real one.
Also regardless of all the fences, gate locks etc,, kids climb over and drown, you're liable in pretty much every jurisdiction I'd bet. |

Get thee some amazing umbrella-policy insurance coverage. Just in case
I'd say warn the little slut NICELY and say if it happens again I go to your parents/guardian, whatever. Tell her you have installed hidden cameras and you will be having your friends posting (untraceably) to all the smut sites the entertainment and/or porno you will be recording. And what was your real name again deary? That will teach her to get three corks and plug /seal them all up and fast! |

I would mention it to the Aunt, but don't make a huge deal of it. Yes, you would be liable if something happened, but fortunately it didn't. If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't be so upset about some kids having a bit of illicit fun (although if push came to shove, they should have considered protection, if things were going that way). I'd personally be more upset over the safety concern. If this is a recurring problem, however, all bets are off.
It's over 90 in my bedroom as I type this and I wish I had a nice pool to dip into myself, Dave |

I've spoken to Pat this morning and she was upset a Little. Now knowing the history of this young lady is very hard on her because she lost her mom a couple of years ago, so it is a sign of rebellion. I wished that she was in front of me so I could explain that we are young and going to make mistakes in life. I just hope she understand that we must cope with the cards that was dealt to us. Life is not easy, it just gives us something extra to pray for! |

-Dave OK what do I have to do to get ElginKid over his irrational fear of window-unit air-conditioners? Do you have to threaten to have you and all your friends walk around 'nekkid'? Believe me, if you think Spanedex is not good in certain cases LESS than that is worse! |

It looks like I'm taking a job in middle-of-nowhere, Illinois in just over a month. I was able to borrow an AC unit from my next-door neighbor this morning to use until I go. I'm trying to come back to Cincinnati this winter for about 2 months, but by that time, AC will be a moot point.
Thanks for thinking of it, Dave |
