My Landlord has a Miele Dishwasher.
It stopped running, no end of cycle alarm, dirty water in sump. I cleaned the filter and started on Rinse and Hold. Seemed to sound OK, but waiting for the cycle to end. Any ideas ? Also, where does the Salt go ?
Thanks, Eddie

How old is the dishwasher? Most of them have the salt regeneration unit at the base. It should be a round cap near the wash arm. twist that and it will come off. If it has not been touched in a long time then it will need some muscle to get off. What model number is it?

Hi Mike.

I looked on the door jamb and most obvious places and can't find it. She says it's about 10 years old. It has the control buttons on the top of the door. 5 cycles, and the interior looks like more updated machines.
I'm going to see if it has reset itself.

Salt

Did you find the salt resevor? If not, it is a large cover in the base of the machine that you unscrew. If there is not any water in it when you open it you must prime it with water first. Fill it full over water and then add the salt and let the water overflow into the machine. When full of salt, replace the screw down cap firmly and run the machine without anything in it. I hope this helps!!

Miele problems

Hi did you check the drain pump? The filters are clean? Is there enough water inside the machine? If you tell me the exact model number then I might be able to help.
Marco

After 10 years without a service issue, they have called the repairman. It did start, but later it just went in to drain and the Inlet/Drain light was flashing.

Thanks for all your help. Eddie

More than likely its something clogging the drain pump. If you take the filter assembly out you will see on the left a wire holding the drain pump housing. If you push the wire off the housing it should come straight up. There is a check ball in the housing. Check to see if there is a blockage there. The water will also flush back thru the hose and into the sump. You can also move the pump impeller as well.
If they called for a repairman from Miele its going to be pricey. Just fair warning. If they called someone that says they fix Miele I would be leary about that. Miele holds onto replacement parts for dear life and you cannot find them just anywhere.

Hi Mike

Model Number is G863SCVI.
Took out the drain valve etc. Nothing seems to be dirty. Cleaned the filter, reassembled. Started the machine. Went through 2 cycles and would not advance past the second drain. Hence the Inlet/Drain light flashing.
Do you know of any good service on the South Shore ?
Thanks, Eddie
