i was thinkin the same thing
it's either an 11 or 12.
my kd-12's have the purge at the beginning, don't have any earlier models to compare to. am interested in knowing if this purge was first introduced on the 12 series? i guess it warms up the wash chamber a little bit but not that much. it does provide for hot water during the main wash at least. | ||

KA DW PURGE
The water sprays over the dishes from the left side, it doesn't warm all the dishes evenly but it does help in the overall effort of warming the dishes in preparation for the main wash. This is why Robert went to the trouble of adding a detergent dispenser to his machine because the purge would wash most of the detergent out of the little basket and down the drain.
