Great fun Greg! That Jet Fan dryer sounds very interesting. I didn't realize that Norge made a front loading washer. Any idea when that was. Amazing the things we learn!! Thanks again for posting these, I know this takes a lot of time!

Seems good... Did norge made any pro-equipment! Have to say that norge is one of my favorit US-style machine (besides Maytag ^^)

I had a great aunt with a Norge that was probably one step below the WAK-1832 (no program buttons, but with a separate 4 combo speed selector). Wonderful machine. It started "spitting grease" and my tight wad great uncle replaced it with a Westinghouse toploader!

great stuff Greg, many thanks for scanning!!! wow and a front loader, looks a bit bendixxified...and as they say is "all In The Drop" and at 2ft who`s complaining...

The "Other Organic Stains Decomposed By Enzymes" quote is more akin to one of todays laundry manuals....what year is this from??

Thaks Greg for the scans. I vaguely remember something about that Norge front loader from several years ago in the club's discussion.

Can I see your Norge......

Only if you show me yours first ;-)

Thanks for the scans Greg, with all the pictures and videos from AW I need a larger hard drive or start burning them to CD.

The Norge front-load washer was a short-lived love child of Bendix and Norge. Perhaps someone will know if it was an entirely Bendix-made machine or if Norge sourced components for their design but it didn't last long on the market, especially after CU (quite deservedly) lifted their hind leg over it in the reviews. Like it's Bendix cousin, it was a bolt-down machine and despite it's large drum, when loaded with a "full" load it didn't clean well. Spinning at 272 rpm made it a pitiful rinsing machine so the overall results were pretty dismal & drippy when you opened that door at the end of the cycle.

More Norge

This is cool stuff! I do wish someone had pics of a 1960 Norge as that's what my dad bought to replace our awesome(in retrospect) '55 Whirlpool. He bought a near tol pair. I was leaning, with my elbows,on the half down 'load-a-door,'looking inside our new gems. Suddenly the door popped down THE REST OF THE WAY. I was unprepared for that & cracked my chin open slightly. The Norge had very small capacity for my moms overloading ways & I constantly heard the tub brake fighting the agitator. I was 5-8 years old during the Norge years & now would love to see how it could've washed with a proper load size. By the time we got our '63 Frig Imperial,I was starting to take over the laundry duties & the Frigidaire was the beneficiary.

We actually found one of those front loaders at the Farm, it was entirly rust red and un restorable! But it would be a fun find in someone's basement.

If I remember correctly John had said it was a totally Norge machine that lasted maybe a year if that.
What a jump to make the first automatic an 18 pounder though!!
Especially in 1948 or so.
That was not attempted again until the late 1960's by Norge and 1970's by the Big "F".

Thats what I grew up with but it was a 20 pound model..That washer would wash the hell out of clothes. It lasted for 24 years or so until Mom got tired of it and threw it out.She said it shredded her towels..

Thanks Greg!

Norge really had some great looking machines!
The combo looked like it weighed a ton! Such a mystery machine!
Great reading!
