Hay

I was cruising down the internet and it hit me. When you look around on youtube there are not that much (hmm actually none) real video's of bosch US washers. Then the second question hit me. Is there anybody on this website who owns (or owned) a bosch set and would like to share? I saw a nexxt pair at the store and they seemed much sturdier than the eurobosch appliances!

I have a Bosch Nexxt 500 set (circa 2005) that's been pretty reliable since we got it. The only two issues were a moldy boot shortly after we bought it (probably my fault!) and shortly after that the replacement boot retention spring broke and the boot got "eaten" by the drum. Since then, 100% uptime. Sure the dryer squeaks every now and then when it runs and the washer's drain pump seems to be getting louder 5 years on now, but it is still chugging away @ 7-10 loads a week.

Performance wise, the Nexxt was always a very good washer with an onboard heater for guaranteed-temp control and a variety of useful programs including extra hot, soak and drain+spin cycles. My only real criticism would be its rinsing performance. The rinse cycle does quite a bit of aggressive tumbling which can raise up a bunch of suds, and seems to run a bit long IMO. Still, I usually get past this pretty easily by selecting "Rinse Plus" and "Bleach" which essentially gives me two extra rinses. Oh, and if you have little kids the washer boot is a magnet for kid-sized socks and washcloths to get stuck (no adult item ever has.)

The new Vision dryer appears to be basically the same as mine, but the washer has been pretty dramatically redesigned. It is now a true horizontal axis machine vs. the slightly tilted drum mine has, the paddles are a different design and the detergent drawer is totally different. So they really did some rework there. The new machines can be stacked too, which could be helpful. I think they still include the onboard heater for temp control, but the cycles available seem to be a marketing jumble between different models so check to see what fits your needs best.

Hope that helps!
