if that ariston is an antonio merloni machine,it is probably a lot like a splendide combomatic-common for use in RVs,buses, campers, boats and other vehicles. |

Ariston is not Antonio Merloni but Indesit Company, the other brother! |

I was only commenting on the Aristons, not on the Hotpoint-Aristons as they are marketed here wich actually means that they are sold as Hotpoints. It seems that Ariston machines are not longer sold in the Netherlands. The Hotpoint-Ariston seem of better quality although there were noise issues with some series.

Due to the time I got home, I only had time to make room in the shed to store it, before I ran out of day light. Today, we will see what it is made of, so lets DO IT! |

That looks so cute and tiny next to that great big US machine in the garage! I had a machine very similar to that in a rental property years ago. Very water efficient and a real workhorse. |

It's got a board! I presume for motor control and cycle functions. Motor is part Induction, part Brush |

The motor is brushed.
I dont know how you came to the conclusion that it is part induction part brushed as I wasnt aware both could be combined??? Maybe im wrong but doubt it. Especially as these were relatively cheap when they were around circa 2000/2001. As for seeing no heater you actually wont. The heating elements for the dryer are contained in the fan chamber and the water heating elements are hidden away in the actual wash tub. A friend of mine had one of these machines that cost her £299 from Curry's, it barely lasted her 18 months after having had 2 timer repairs. There was a common fault on these that meant it would continue to click the dial around even after the wash cycle ended. |

Why does it have a Whirlpool-ish drum? I thought they usually have Indesit drums. |

the drum is exactly the same as the drum in my splendide as is the air heater.Other details are different though. My splendide is antonio merloni from 2002. |

.....seems that avoiding chlorine bleach is what you MUST do if you want the spider to last.
As for load....fill 'er right to the top if you just want a wash and half way up the door if you want to do wash-dry in one cycle... Now, as for the plastic doors...Just because it is plastic, doesn't make it bad/poor quality...the outer plastic piece in the inside of the 'dish' part of the door is to stop children and stupid adults from scalding themselves on the door-glass when the machine is drying - it gets VERY HOT... As for detergent quantity...I would suggest using 1/2 the amount you would use in a Neptune which here is rated at 8 or 10kg....make sure it is the lowest sudsing, best quality powdered detergent you can find and AVOID chlorine bleach!!! |

As someone mentioned the timer on here i thought i would mention it aswell. My mate bought that exact same model and hers last barely 4 months and the control board burned out, then the timer kept advancing. 4 Repairs in 12 months and it broke again with the same problem just after the warranty ran out. She used to use the dryer a lot with having 2 kids and maybe that contributed towards the control board burn out.
In the end i used the machine for parts for my indesit as the motor had burned out on it. good luck with the machine, maybe the one you have may be ok if its lasted this long |
