These can be cool machines, it would be interesting to know if the washer is the single belt machine or the older three belt machine. The single belt machine came out about 6-1989 they stopped making the three belt machines in the fall of 1988 for about 6 months we couldn't get any FL washers. The dryer could be either the better older machine with the porcelain drum or the newer cheap painted drum , either could be gas or electric. The earlier three belt machine had less problems and the drive system had been production since 1959. The single belt machine was more water efficient and also did a good job but the timer, main motor, circuit board for the motor, the shock absorbers and the drain pump were sourced from Italy and had all kinds of problems. Consumer Reports top rated the new single belt machine for performance and energy efficiency but within two years warned that it was the most problem prone washer in thier survey and advised against buying it.

I know what you mean about that little access door but it doesn't mean a thing. I bought a set of these in 1985 had an electric dryer and it had this little door too. |
