I'm posting this in the As The Tub Turns Forum first to give all the members who donated to the site first pick of this large litter. I plan on moving this thread into the Imperial Forum in a few days...

I received an email from a guy in New York State:

I am sending this email to inform you that we have many of the washers you are looking for and we also have, besides the complete washers, a large amount of parts which cna be used with these washers. We are located in upstate New York and are currently one of the largest reconditioned appliance stores in our area if you have any questions about our inventory of over 150 antique washers email me at ha15hans@siena.edu

Here are the pictures he sent me:

Great Googly Moogly!

We need a plan!

First, someone needs to go there and photograph and catalog each machine so we know what we're dealing with in an organized fashion. Then the floodgates can be opened.

Dibs on a WCI-58 (if there might be one)!
Dave

PS: I think I saw a 1975 Lady Kenmore in harvest gold (I've got one that needs work!).

What is this machine, it looks like a solid-basket GE, or maybe even a Easy built Westinghouse Top-Loader??? Is the control panel missing or are the knobs on the front of the machine???

I really don't know.

At first, I thought it may be the Dorothy Street Warehouse, but then I looked at the email address. Siena College is famous around here, among Catholics. It's Franciscan, and near Albany.

Look at all of those buttons on the Mark XII! Is that a Canadian Frigidaire in the picture below the A500 and maybe another one below the Tahitian Green Gold Crown washer?

Robert, it looks like a tiny bit of turquoise is showing by the 1-18 control panel next to the washer in question. Could it be some BOL machine with maybe a missing timer knob? It looks like there is some sort of differentiation in the top of the machine in that rear corner.

Can you imagine how much fun a drive-in to this place could be? Would the town survive? No doubt it would be an entire chapter in the town's history or hysteria. It would be something like when the "Old Man's" unit got their instructions to meet at the inn in Vermont in White Christmas.

That Whirly is one exactly like I found years ago here at my Launderall dealer and let go of. I emailed on it, have always wanted that machine back!

That red-circled machine is a BOL Kelvinator - I have the brochure somewhere around here. Tom might be right, missing the timer knob.

The red circled machine looks like a solid-basket GE BOL with the clock-radio control on the left side of the cabinet. You can see remnants of the base just to the left of the hoses, the control panel is not there. When they were solid-basket machines, the control modules on the washers and the dryers seemed to get moved around. They went to both controls on the RH side when they went to the V-12 series. That's definitely a solid-tub lid and top.

Maybe us Southern boys can group together and bring a haul of them down here at one time and share the expense? Could be that we can make drop stops along the way to people too. I have a couple shipping connections that might work well, especially if we're not in a rush. I'd be glad to coordinate them in Charlotte and disburse them to Hickory, Atlanta, and whereever else they go in the Southeast should we be able to work out something like that.

Just let me know if you want to try that - I think we can ship them to this region less expensively in a mass-haul vs. individually.

Have a great weekend!

A group arrangement....

Has anyone heard from the guy? I got an e-mail Friday night saying he wouldn't be at work until Monday and couldn't tell me what was there until then (that's today, but nothing yet).

Before we start getting all excited about the arrangements, let's verify what the guy has. We can reply to him that a bunch of us are working together, etc. when/if we get e-mails. That may make it easy. Once we know what we can get (or can't), and how much $$$ he wants, then we start working on logistics, fighting over machines (lol), etc.

You all agree?

Got an email from Hans

turquoisedude's profile picture
I just got an email from the seller with the following list of items available:
Frigidaire Washer: WCDL, WN7, WIC-A, W5, WS, WC-6, WCD3T, W-2
Frigidaire Dryer: DCDL, DECI, DCIF-61, DAN
Kenmore Washer: 7204900G, 7204800W
Kenmore Dryer: 7208900G, 6408900, 6818600W00
GE Washer: 352TI
GE Dryer: 420X1-W, 610W3-W, 420A1-Y
Maytag Washer: A702, A502
Windsor (Montgomery Ward) Dryer: UAN7617A
Whirlpool Dryer: 561842

He told me that there is buyer going there tomorrow and asked me to email him if I had a specific brand/model that I was looking for... Cripes, I wish I knew the model number of the Frigidaire Deluxe dryer that would match the WDAC63 washer!!!

Hope this list helps!

He is courteous and professional.

I also have this same list

joelippard's profile picture
and I have to admit, I was a bit surprised. The list wasn't my idea of Large, but any vintage machine is a score.

At this point I have made the decision to bow out. Since he cannot tell me the condition of any of the machines and no firm pricing is set, plus I have no idea how I would get one that far away from me. I really don't have the room for anything else and will enjoy seeing someone else get the chance at owning a Frigidaire Rapidry.

I heard back from them on the Whirlpool, prices aren't really set and I need to decide what amount, if any, that I want to spend on another washer that likely needs a complete restoration and cosmetic panel parts - missing water level knob is no big deal but the missing button could prove tricky. That's after it's bought and shipping is paid for. All said and done, it could be approaching a grand for a washer that is a virtual duplicate in function to the 68 Kenmore and 60 Lady K I already have!

I just can't justify spending 200+ on a machine that may or may not been raped for parts. Perhaps if the machines were functioning, 200. If he restored them and wanted to ask more money, that would be okay.

I wonder if they'll go to the crusher if nobody coughs up the green.

i think $200.00 is a fair price. i have paid about that price for the 6 rollermatics i have. some more, some a bit less but on average around 200.00.

i'm gonna wait till the dust clears and if he still has any left i may make an offer. don't need any more but i do love those old frigidaires, both 1-18 and rollermatics.

hopefully someone will grab em, it would be a sin for them to be destroyed.
