The Dishwasher club that is!

I'm still not into dishwashers as much as clothes washers, but this one was just too cool to pass up!

It's a Kitchenaid KDA-5 Varicycle!

The interior shot. It's actually in pretty darn good condition, not perfect, but darn good.

Unfortunately about a 1/3 of the timer cycle knob (where it shows the cycle) is broken and missing.

But so far everything seems to work (tho a more thorough test is coming this weekend) and there are NO leaks! YAY!

What year is it (more or less)?

Hi Pete, what year could this be? I was thinking early 70's, but is it older if it's basically a "model 15 on wheels"?

Thanks!
Kevin

Anywhere between 1964-1972. Parts may be fairly easy to find with a long production span like that.

Could you take a close-up shot of the timer dial?

YAY!

That is a great machine, Kevin! It really is in good shape and you should still be able to scare up a timer dial somewhere. I was floored by how well this style cleans dishes. The ol' four-way Hydrosweep is really amazing!!

Does the machine have a 'Soak and Scrub' cycle as one of the pushbutton selections??

Have fun with it!!

Cycles x 3

This unit has a Full Cycle, Utility/Utensil which is for pots and pans and is probably identical to the Full cycle with reduced drying time so left over foods are not dried back on to the pots and pans and are more easily wiped clean as well as Rinse and Hold.
Since the pump is a 15 series pump, you won't find anything available for it anymore. That is not to say that all the parts are not available but forget about the wash arm support. You can still get shaft seals and impellers from Hobart while supplies last as well as a motor for it thru Hobart or maybe even Whirlpool. I am sure as others have said already, it will clean the rust off a trailer hitch.
