Jon, I was thinking how beautiful and full-featured that machine is. I wish, wish, wish we had bought one, but Consumer Reports always ranked the tumblers at the bottom of the ratings. I loved seeing these and later Philcos in the few stores like Economy Auto and Firestone Tire Stores because the salesmen would usually leave an elementary school age kid alone up front with the washers while they talked in back. I still remember the wonderful rubbery fragrances when I opened the doors of these machines.

These are indeed splendid! How long did Philco-Bendix made front load washers?

The sales brochure that I got when we bought the Duomatic showed front loaders and matching dryers. I think production of all laundry ceased in 68 or 69. I did not see a separate FL in a store for many years before that though.

I'd take the green or yellow pair. BTW, what's up with the lack of the magic heater? That was the only disappointment when I was reading the ad copy, but a major disappointment.

Jon, you know that I am not a greedy person.LOL Yes I would be very happy with a set of those in Green. I looked at that picture several times yesterday. What a beautiful set. I wonder just how many of these machines were sold. Bendix was never very popular in the area where I grew up. I wonder if they really were as good as they claimed at balancing?

As far as balancing goes

I haven't had my 1956 jounce around yet and it weighs in the same as those '57 machines.
The shocks are getting tired in my Duomatics though, gonna have to do something about that soon!
