Looiks like a Waste King/Thermador to me with that fixed tower in the middle of the bottom rack, but it isn't. It looks very european in its rack arrangement plus it doesn't have the little "loops" at the top of the tines likke WK/Thermadore machines did.

Lab Glassware Washer

labboy's profile picture
This is a Labconco brand laboratory glassware/dishwasher. It used to be available through Scientific Products or other lab suppliers. They were designed to clean (in addition to other items) flasks and beakers. On the racks of some models, they had tubings to direct wash/rinse water to the inside of the glassware. They also had options for steam and a final rinse of deionized water (as opposed to the water supply used for the rest of the cycle).

I don't think you'd want to put something in there you'll be eating off of later. Who knows what kinds of chemicals bio agents that were tested were cleaned in there.

Labconco-remember their catalogs in high school and college chemestry classes.Everyone in the class-instructor too-liked to look thru them.Somewhere at home have a few old ones-and Fisher.Remember the Fisher Lab and Science supply in Silver Spring Md.Was fun to get science stuff there. And typically when you bought something--they gave you that cool big catalog!
Too the washer-yes its a labware washer-and no I wouldn't want to wash things in it you will be eating from.Like in labs they have their 'fridge marked--"No foods"this is now by law.Sure you wouldn't want to put your lunch in the lab fridge alongside toxic viral cultures or bacteria cultures and toxic chemicals. The "foods" fridge or storage would be in the lab areas lunchroom-no chemicals can be stored in the foods fridge.

On the contrary, these would be ideal to put food on for germophobes and chemical phobes.....

.....lab equipment has to be completely clean for use - a little residue chemical/bacteria has the potential to cause large cost failure down the line....

I suppose if the machine uses steam and detergents that could destroy bacteria, viruses, and chemicals they probably could be used for dishes for food-but could the food dishes withstand the possibly higher temp in such a machine-wonder if the machine is connected to the lab or hospital steam supply. Its like the fridges-you would want to aviod any possibility of food and chemical, bacteria being mixed.I would stick to using the labware washer for-labware.the lab lunchroom kitchen probably has a dishwasher for the employee eating utensils-not for labware.I suppose if the machine is been removed from the lab and sold-then you could use it for dishes.I would flush it out good to make sure.

This may make a cool machine and I would have no fear in using it. The worst thing about it is it looks like it has the same lousy pump that was in the home models.
