We're having a great time all together this weekend in Omaha - Terry, Robert and Fred, Pat, Tania and Duane from Milwaukee. Five of us drove up to Norfolk, NE to a couple of vacuum shops for a little hunting trip and brought back some cool treasures. The old appliance store I found a number of years ago is now gone, along with the solid-tub Speed Queen washers and Bendix Super-Fast dryers they had for sale in the used appliance department. The vac shops were fun, we met a great guy at Norfolk Vacuums that will probably be on the list for future gatherings, we had a great time at his place.

What a weekend .... fun and frivolity abound!!

What can I say, people should not be allowed to have this much fun.
Great friends, fabulous food, fantastic weather and toys aplenty beyond belief .... just doesn't get any better!!
No other place I'd rather be.
And now ..... more to come!!
psf

Stoneware = Lenox Temper Ware in Percussion from late 70's to early 80's. I love the weight and shape of the pieces and the pattern has grown on me. I have a friend that got this as a wedding gift back in the 70's and still uses it everyday. I found this set on Craigslist and have added from ebay, etc. We still have our summer napkin wardrobe out, but you can see the plates pretty clearly here.

Paradise

Pictures and words pale when I try to express the pure joy of spending time with Greg and Skyler. Greg seems to have one house rule that he adheres to stringently. "While you're here, you can do anything you want." Trust me there is so much to do it sets your mind reeling. Pick from the multitude of washers, dryers, vacuums, sewing machines, mixers, coffee makers, blenders, dinner ware, cookware, magazine, instruction manuals and if that's not enough the house is airconditioned, the furniture comfortable and the back lawn is just like a park. Skyler endures the invasion with grace and charm and gladly welcomes one and all to join him in car racing. Greg is truly the perfect blend of tenderness and steel, intellect and savvy and kind to the bone. I am so grateful to have experienced Chez Nunn and it only whetted my appetite for more. I want to be Greg's next door neighbor, worm my way into his circle of friends and enjoy all that Omaha has to offer. Thank you Greg for all you are and all you do. You are an amazing man.

LaCasa pizza is an Omaha institution, as are a number of other pizza joints. I can't remember the last time anyone said "I'm hungry for Pizza Hut or (Holy Pulsator forbid) Dominos." We have four or five hometown pizza parlors within a short drive from here, there is never a shortage of unique choices - all freshly made and outstanding. LaCasa is a favorite of most who visit, very thin Neopolitan style. Light marinara tomato sauce and finely ground beef topping with a mozz & romano cheese mix. Mmmmmmmm. Don't forget the onion rings!

A friend of mine used to work at the downtown location many years ago and I was able to meet some of the original family-owners and enjoyed some "off the menu" Italian dishes that defy words. The west location near us is owned by one of the brothers of the original (link) family, few can tell any difference although the sisters will claim there is ;-)

Ms. Mixfinder, you summed it up so eloquently.
Spending time at Chez Nunn's is nothing short of therapy.
The freedom to explore and indulge is beyond comprehension.
Every junket to Omaha causes me to take weeks away from my therapy regiment because "It Is" my personal therapy.
What more could a soul ask for but great friends, unbelievable freedom with the "toy box" and the most fabulous food feasts anyone could possibly crave.
I feel refreshed and renewed .... and on to the next!!
Thanks Greg, and everyone in attendance.
It was a wonderful weekend I needed, expected, realized and cherish.
All the best
psf (Pat)

Mini basket

I've had two GE washers with a mini basket & NEVER had the suds problem, I used it regularly for tenny shoes & mainly rags, did a supurb job! How much detergent did you use???? Never had that problem with regular loads either & there is a LOT of splashing with smaller loads. Don't try that with a Kenmore or Whirlpool, those poor things would choke to death!!
