Wisconsin?

Anyone in the Quad Cities / Chicago area have an interest in helping me go get it? I'll be leaving for Mt. Carroll, IL this weekend. My new job there is a mixed blessing. I just found out they only have enough $$$ to have me there for 8 weeks. Still, that's 8 weeks to go get something neat to bring back to Cincinnati.

First Refusal.

Before I reply to the ad, is anyone else here looking into this? If so, I'll let you have it. I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

Wish I could, but it's too far for me... Go for it! It looks like a WO-65...

That's a grand looking machine, Dave. Hope you can find a way to get it.

Weight

jons1077's profile picture
How much does a machine like this typically weigh? They aren't huge in size but something tell me, since really the only plastic parts are knobs, that this machine coule be in excess of a few hundred pounds.

It's not too bad

weight wise. A bit more than a normal washer and you can definitely tell it is a Unimatic for sure! I absolutely love this machine; it looks to be in great condition. Since it's a double-rinser, perhaps a WO-65 2? Too bad it's too far from me or for me to even help you. Did you call them Dave, you really should. For that price and look, I would jump on it real quick!

Nope.

Ben spoke up so he can have it. I REALLY want a WCI-58 and although a Unimatic would have been a great 1st Frigidaire, I'm not tearing my hair out about it.

Brent, the above is a WO-65, the first one with this style panel. It didn't have an overflow rinse, but the two deep rinses. The WO-65-2 came out in the 1954 model, I do believe, with the overflow rinse and single deep rinse.

The La Crosse WO-65 in person...

unimatic1140's profile picture
Yes its a WO-65 with two rinses, the WO-65-2 was introduced in 1952 and had Frigidaire's first overflow rinse.

I emailed the seller last night soon after Malcolm posted this, thanks Malcolm! Its by far one of the most minty WO-65s I have ever seen. I know of a certain someone who has been asking me to watch out for a machine like this, so they are going to be very happy. I just have to see how much mechanical restoration it needs and that wont happen until after the GE AW6 is finished.

The seller told me that she bought this machine a few years back for $2! She was planning on using it but decided the capacity was too small so she never hooked it up.

It even has both rear panels, I've never seen that before.

Well Robert, I'm glad you saved it for someone! I guess I was second in line since I couldn't get out of of work today; otherwise I would have been up in La Crosse early this afternoon.

But alas, you beat me to the punch ;-)

She sure is minty though, holly crap! Sticker and all - dang it! lol
