Hiya Guys :-)

Was in our newly renovated Asda Supermarket earlier this evening when I noticed that they have started to sell fridge freezers and also washing machines. But as the thread name states, the washers they had were branded as Russell Hobbs, which, until now wasnt aware made washing machines.

They seem fairly basic, standard programmes and a 1000rpm maximum spin speed, with a price tag of £200.Cant quite put my finger on what these machines look like though, first off I did think they looked like the Bush machines exclusive to Argos, but then on closer inspection they are quite different.

Maybe you guys will know who they are made by :-)

Look forward to hearing from you all, I've not posted on here for a while now :-)

Rich

I saw one too!

In ASDA, I saw one on display and had to have a closer look to make out the name, surprised it was Russell Hobbs. It blatently looks like a cheapie, rebadged Matsui I saw in Currys, it was £180 for 5kg 1000rpm. Personally I wouldn't buy one, give me an Indesit over these cheap things any day.

I always thought by now 5kg and 1000rpm was phased out, it seems like most manufacturers like Hotpoint have started from 6/7kg ans 1200 spins.

Matsui and Russell Hobbs

A dead ringer for this famous Currys star

Something else a little more interesting

It seems I was a little wrong. Zanussi have also outsourced a 5kg 1000rpm washer, Zanussi ZWF1000M being sold at John Lewis for £259. Not something I would buy either as it reeks of cheap Matsui, and I could get a better Indesit, Hotpoint or perhaps even a nice Whirlpool for that price.

Its a dead ringer as it has that drum that I've seen on Matsuis, it looks a lot like the old Hotpoint drum, reminds me of the good old days, machines that lasted long, could be repaired, those lovely high water levels, now we're stuck with cheap machines, that only use a teacup of water to wash our clothes, I shudder to think how much Hotpoint 95s and other vintage beauties are being shunted out of kitchens and utility rooms for this cheap tat.

It sickens me that one of my all time favourite brands zanussi (Electrolux)would outsource cheaps chinese S**t like this. Really really annoys me. I saw the one on comets website in the fleesh and was as disappointed as when I saw the picture online. What's the the world coming too.
