I might know...

Well, as you might know Candy is me! xD
The first electronic washer from them I can remember went in 2001-2... looked like this (or similar)
Too bad she had bad experience.. I know a bunch of people (including me) that had alot of good experience with Candy"s.
So here is the link of the video :)
The washer on the pic was not avaliable in UK, but the similar one (with white door) was ;)

What washer your gran have now?

I hope I helped you :)

could be this one...

Hi Tom

You could be talking about the Candy Activa Smart Range. These aren't 80's washers, but you could be talking about the one on the left, which was made in the mid/late 90's which had a digital display. There was also another series in the early noughties too.

The one on the left is the 90's Activa Smart, the one on the right was made a few years ago.

:)

Well, there were no digital Candy"s in 70s or 80s. The first one digitals were in late 90s, but they were semi-digital (their knob was still ticking), and, as I said the compleatly digital Candy in today"s style of machines were first launched around 2002 ;)

Thanks for replying! :D

Can you remember the year?

Still, the semi digitals went in late 90s.. so can you remember a year when it was used (or sth close) so I can easier match up what you think? :)

a REAL mystery!

lol I know every single peace of Candy history, and I am very sure there have been no digital washers in 80s. Really wired and misterious :D I am going to try check, and find this out if a digital, or semi digital Candy existed then! :D

If you are sure it was from the 80s

then the most modern it could be would be this Domino pictured below with a mechanical timer, no digital models until 10 years later at least.

I'm not surprised your Nan had trouble with it, they've always been some of the most repair prone machines sold here even at their best.

My Aunt had a Domino from the late 80s, truly awful machine, wash results were poor at best and it constantly broke down.

There is a version..

There is an exact same version like this one, but with brown facia...
The one on the pic is washer dryer.. your gran might had the washer only version of that... also, as you see me and Matt may be disagreeing about a real bunch of things, but we deffinatley agree that in that time there were NO digital ones ;)
You should look on This vid too: (link)

:D

Interesting!!!!! There might have been some extreamly rare models with that... still quite wired!! Because even on Candy time machine ones like that weren"t shown! :D
There was a possibility that they were just a kind of experimental or sth ;)
But I am so desperate to find an image of a washer like that :D
cheers,
Dex
