A friend of mine has a white early 80's Kenmore washer that needs repair and a good home. It's located here in Atlanta in the Alpharetta area.
The motor died on it this past weekend. Sears was out today and told my friend that he could replace the motor, but there "may" be something else that caused the 25 year old motor to fail. She didn't want to gamble on the repairs (starting at $280, so tonight she bought a shiny new Kenmore Elite T/L). It will be delivered this Thursday.
The old machine still looks like new. I'm not sure which series it is. I know it's got most of the bells and whistles, and it's got the dual action agitator. Yes, it's the older, reliable belt drive tranny.
Here's the catch...it needs to be picked up soon. Sears is delivering the new washer in 2 days. My friend lives in a condo, where they will not allow the old machine to sit out on the patio or the porch.
I wish I could get pics of it, but I just found out about it tonight, so there isn't time :-/
