Today I found an ad in the paper for a Hotpoint Supermatic 9404, seller said it is clean but the spinner is not working. The two problems for me were: 1. £40 (at my age, free is the only way unless it was rare) and 2. I couldnt collect as it was in Co. Mayo and the seller couldn't deliver. He also had rusted Servis Supertwin 108. Fellow Irish members here... how do you do it??? I've contacted my local appliance shop and they are looking out but I wont get anything very old from them. I'm going to the recycling centres this weekend too I think. I've also e-mailed a member here from Galway who offered to look out too and he hasn't replied yet. On top of all this I'm craving goldust machines like the Hotpoint 1400, 1500, 1600/1830 and 18-series. I'd cry for them LOL! What routes to success am I missing here or am I being impatient?

James.

Patience is a virtue

I know its irritating, but perhaps a bit of patience is in order. Also consider what are your priorities - lots of people have had to pass over what are fantastic offers for various reasons like time, money or (for most of us) lack of space, but get there in due course. Go for one machine at a time and plan how you are going to get them.

Also think through what the options are - will the man in Mayo keep the machines for a while? Maybe you could save up to get the machines or do jobs for your family/friends in return for a drive to and from Mayo - at least it is only two counties away!

Panic not- you'll get there in due course. Maybe Mark of some of the other people in Ireland (who else is there by the way?) have suggestions too

Recycling Centre

I went to a recycling centre in Derry today and there were two old Hotpoint Dryers, an early 90's model and a late 80's Compact. Man comes over and asks "Can I help ya" and I explained etc. Then he says "We're sorry but we're not allowed to give out electrical items". What a silly rule if it is one. Luckily the two were a bit tatty. I'm hoping to contact other local recycling centres but I'd say I'd get the same response.

James.
