Hello,

I'm a student from Emerson College and I am taking a class called Stagecraft: Props. I have an assignment to research a 1959 Washing Machine, what they look like, how they work, etc. I found your site extremely helpful for this assignment. One thing that is required for this assignment though is that I have to find out where I would be able to find a 1959 Washing Machine to either borrow or buy for a theatre production and it would have to be a reasonable price. I was just wondering if, hypothetically speaking, if i were to need one for a production would I be able to borrow one of the machines or something from some of the collectors on this website? And if not is there any place you know where I could get one. This is all just for an assignment so I just have to prove that it would be possible for me to find one.

Thank you very much for your time,

Ino Badanjak

I would call one of the prop houses in Los Angeles, they have everything. My guess is they just have a wringer washers but for your assignment that might be okay. I would be impressed if the production were that picky about the exact year as I've seen movies that take place in the 40s with 50s cars in them, etc. However personally I think that this attention to detail is to be strived for none-the-less.

Ahhh, that's one of my "dream" machines! I'd really love to come across a '59 Frigidaire Set.
