So you are getting the 806S and dryer as posted earlier? I was curious as I was also interested in the set and knew someone was ahead of me. I hadn't heard either way if they came through though.

I am the Maytag hog and Ben devotee who claimed the Maytag set. |

Hmm, I just noticed for the first time Kelly's new washer has the very rare wash 'n' wear button. Ben, do you know if this is more than simply offering a normal agitation & slow spin speed combination--like maybe the cool-down phase that was found on the 900 series machines long before Maytag put it on the dial of their regular timer-based machines?

Hey Bob,
The Wash N Wear button functions exactly the same as the later Permanent Press button did from mid 67-69 806 washers. Fast agitation/slow spin speed, with the user permitting the wash and rinse temperatures. As you mentioned, the later 1970 and later 806 washers incorporated a Whirlpool-like Permanent Press cycle as a separate timer function. Again - congrats Kelly! Tonight I moved the 806 set out for the AMP set. I'll start working on the washer sometime this weekend/next week. Ben This post was last edited 09/30/2010 at 21:43 |
