Below is a picture of the laundry pair that I grew up with.
I'm wondering if anyone can identify the actual model and/or series that these machines were?
The dryer is electric and was purchased new sometime between 1967-69. It had only 1 heat setting and a timer (no "automatic" or "wrinkle-guard" features). It lasted until the late 1980s. My service memorise of this machine included the somewhat regular reconnection and replacement of those plastic-coated tension cables that kept the door from falling open and the fact that you needed to open the top to get at the drum lamp to replace it.
The washing machine was purchsed new off of a sears catalog showroom floor in the fall of 1971. It was a suds model. I have many fond memories of listening to and watching this machine go through its paces as it did laundry for a family of 6 on a farm (12-20 loads a week). I have later (and more mixed) memories of regularly tearing this machine apart in the 1980s to replace a pump, the belt, the timer, and water valve solenoids. I think we finally abandoned it in about 1988 when it needed its second new timer.

Mark -

There have been several similar in appearance washer/dryer models to your dryer, but yours looks like an original 1967 70-series dryer. The third washer I sold when I started my rebuilding/reselling hobby was a white matching washer. They were great machines.

The washer by my guess is a 1970 model, also a 70-series, but in the late 60s to mid-70s many models were not marketed by their series number. I just acquired a matching dryer to this washer, but in Avocado. In fact, I am going to offer it to the club here in just a moment. The dryer is a 1970 model. Seems like these were somewhat popular models. A couple collectors have them, including Combo52 I believe.

My guestimate model numbers are:

110.6708700 - dryer

110.7004700 - washer

Great set to grow up with. Yep that is definitely the original 1967 Model 70 dryer with the black dial. The 70 Model 70 washer survived quite awhile with the large family you had. What a trooper.

Have a good one,
James
