I'm lucky enuff to be in Manhattan till Monday evening and would like to check out what new washers are available. Bloomingdale's and Macy's dont seem to have appliance departments. Where should I look on this island?

Peter

Sears, Lowes, Home Depot, maybe do a google search for appliance stores in the city you're in.

I know NYC like the back of my hand................

In Manhattan you will find PC Richard and Son will have the largest selection of washers and dryers, there is one on 14th St. near Union Square, the outer Borough of Queens has a large Sears store on Queens Blvd. take the E or F train from midtown to Queens. Good Luck
Mike

PS........................
I don't think that BEST BUY in Manhattan sells major appliances, but you can check them out too. Macy's and Bloomie's stopped selling major appliances in the mid eighties.
MIKE
Let us know how you make out.

In Midtown Manhattan you can find The Food Emporium, or D'agostino almost on every other block, BUT they are expensive. There is a Target up in Harlem around 125th St and the FDR Drive I think....you will have to take the bus uptown on First Ave or Second Ave to get there. There are also Pathmark Supermarkets....take the #1 train to 207th St., and it is right down the block. My advice is Google the following stores.....Pathmark, The Food Emporium, if you go to Brooklyn there are Waldbaums Supermarkets also, by the way, all of these are owned and operated by the A&P which is in the suburbs of NY and NJ. All of these stores usually have great sales on Tide or Wisk etc. Good Luck
Mike

Thanks Mike

Thanks Mike that really worked out well. Went to Union Square and had a good selection to look at. The romance has gone out of washing machines but then again they have become almost household disposable items. Cheaper than ever before in their history. Some of the more expensive and fancy front loaders do still have some seductive buttons and options and flashing lights.
