Around 1965, the most popular dishwasher in France was a Philips top loader. The spray was unique : a heavy cylinder of metal with only 4 holes. If water was hot enough, the full cycle lasted less than 20 minutes. No drying operation, but an automatic opening of the lid. I cannot find anything about it : no picture, no leaflet. Does anyone see what I am writing about ?

Salut J.M. Humeau ...

has it anything to do with IGNIS Alice design ? The partnership between Ignis and Philips had started long before Ignis merged under Philips wings, maybe ....

BTW have you got any picture/depliant of vintage Arthur Martin dishwashers (avant d' Electrolux)?

Merci beacoup

I have only one picture of the first Philips dishwasher. It's from the jubileum book Philips 1891 - 1991.

This is the page from the book, the dishwasher is at the bottom. It was introduced in 1960.

The Jubileum book is nice, but the dishwasher we can see is not looking like the one we could find around 1965. However, the size and the shape is quite close, and not at all like the Ignis Alice.

Aahh, there is the mixer that I inherited from my mother. I see that it was quite expensive at f 47.50. And I recognise the spin dryer too. My mother had that same model before the automatic washer came into the house.

That is the only picture I have of an early Philips dishwasher. Perhaps the model in 1965 was a modified one of the one in the picture.

Unfortunately my scanner doesn't work at the moment so I can't scan what I hadn't scanned yet. Here's a small part from another page with the Philips CC1000 on it.

As a matter of fact, answering to foraloysius, I remember this dishwasher was supposed to be built in the Netherlands.

The jubileum book doesn't mention a Dutch factory where major appliances were manufactured. It says that in the beginning Philips started selling them they bought major appliances from other countries. Later they had joint ventures with Ignis and Bauknecht, but those factories were in Germany and in France. Perhaps that dishwasher was one of the early ones and (again perhaps) was built by another manufacturer in the Netherlands.
