Hey all,
Yesterday when I was using my great old Frigidaire 1-18 located by one of our wonderul local folks, Chris the high speed spin quit working. All other cycles seem to be fine, just a dead spot on the high spin. Assume it a timer issue? Are there still timers available for the great old machine?
Sure hope so.

Agitator question

This is another 1-18 question, so I figured I would just tack it onto this thread. Did someone say that the first 1-18's had a jetcone agitator in them? I know that they are shorter, but would they fit/work?

The 1-16 had the smaller Jet Action agitator in it from the solid tub models. Autowash, I'd research the archives here about 1-18 timers and where they may be found.

Figidaire

Hey Chris, is continues to advance through the spin cycle but will not run at high speed. The other slow spin cycles also seem to work.

well im not the expert here but i will find out more info for you. the best i can tell is that the timer has a spot that tells the motor to kick into high. so if the rest of the cycle is fine and the timer is prob running as it should there has to be some sort of motor issue but ill get a hold of mark hes really good with motors

What model 1-18 do you have? on the fancier models it could be the program switch. If you want a new timer be sure to check with Modern Parts in Ohio or MTS in Michigan.

Thanks Chris and Combo, I will check the model number. Chris,
when you talk to Mark, let him know I may be getting rid of the Kenmore 70's I got a while back.
Thanks guys, this is such a great site!

Not that this has anything to do with your speed issue but, I remember the last few years of the 1-18s they had this feature that kept the agitation at a lower speed until the water level was a bit higher so the water would not leak all over the place. I had their Elite series that had the "Tuch-N-Wash" feature and lots of push buttons. When I hooked it up,the agitator came on at the mini level I had set it for but didn't rev up to the set speed until the water reached half the way up the agitator post.
