Just found out that my dad's Whirlpool Duet washer (Original version purchased 1 Jan 2003.) died this afternoon. It was washing a large load of sweatshirts and started banging very loudly when it reached a couple hundred RPM and could not go faster than that. Step-dad turned the machine off and found little white plastic shavings all over the place. The spider assembly broke and the inner tub was scraping against the outer tub during the spin cycle.
So, my dad decided to give me a call and ask me to do some research for a suitable replacement. After an hour on the phone with him, we settled on the new Whirlpool Duet washer. We will be purchasing the machine on Thursday when I have arrived home after finishing my last final exam up here at Ferris State! The very next day, I'll be picking up my new Whirlpool topload washer! Two new washers for Christmas! I'm so excited!!!!! This post was last edited 12/10/2010 at 18:09 |

Thanks to Whirlpool's digital library! It's not accessible from their website but it contains hundreds of photos of all of their appliances!!! (VERY VERY high quality photos too!)
To download, hit the drop down menu near the bottom of the image you want, click "Original [Maximum] size" then click "download." CLICK HERE TO GO TO Pulsator's LINK |

The machine averaged 5 loads a week with more over holidays and family visits. I'd guess somewhere around 2,200 wash cycles.
My dad said that the drum still turns very smoothly but the drum wiggles a LOT when he moves the tub next to one of the baffles but it still feels solid by the other 2 baffles. That leads be to believe that the washer suffered a spider failure. |

Wow Jamie definitely exciting. I remember when our Norge15 DispensoMat washer was delivered December 23, 1964. I was doing laundry Christmas morning, after presents were opened, much to my mom's chagrin. In fact, I was standing at bathroom doors waiting for people to finish with their towels. I was looking at these at bLowes on Sunday. i really like them. And thanks for the pics witgh the displays activated. The blue LED displays are much easier for me to read than most other colors.
