We're going to have to post pictures over the next few days of our wash-in - New Years celebration as it has only begun and we've made a pact to share the fun in photos (and maybe a video or two) with our AW.org family this year better than we have in the past. Roger, Terry, Ben, Pat are here as of Tuesday and Wednesday, and two more coming Friday (Dan P. from DesMoines and John from Milwaukee) so we'll have a houseful of fun to ring in 2011.

For the last few weeks, I've been working on a new work-space in the garage. I added running water, drain, electric and vintage appliances to handle the entertaining. I've wanted to do this for a long time and finally had to make it happen. A KDS-14, WU-601 and a KA compactor have come in very handy for the many meals to come this weekend.

A bit of scouring downtown finds a Maytag at Habitat.  There was also a nice A208 washer but we didn't photo that for some reason.

Hopefully tomorrow I can swing by again. My dad took my truck to work today, so I am vehicle-less, so I cant come out today.

Looks like you got to Omaha ok. Was 27 degrees here last night. Yesterday afternoon, there were a few snow flakes here. What do you think of the Speed Queen front loader? Hope you are all having a good time and my best wishes to all for a

While the other boys went out thrifting around town, Roger and I stayed behind to do some washer-repair.  The 69 GE was spinning out water too fast and running a bit hot so checked and replaced the shoes on the clutch and tested and replaced the motor relay coil.  It's running like a new washer now!

Malara's Italian Restaurant usually makes handmade tortellini and white sauce for their Saturday special but they said they'd make it for us when I called - it was outstanding as always!  We had a very nice dinner and it was a lot of fun to venture out into the cold and save Terry hours of work in the kitchen!  :-)

The original on/off switch for the Bendix had an integral thermal overload reset for the motor. Unfortunately the thermal overload had gone bad, causing the overload to pop as soon as the spin started.

After a new capacitor on the motor, a Dayton clutch, a new remote on/off switch with a separate thermal overload from a 61-63 Frigidaire, we were back in business!

The start switch now needs some work as it has a tendency to get stuck in the run position. More work for a different day.

Wow, Wow, Wow!!!
An amazing time.
It's all a blurr now but it was unbelievable fun.
The list of things we did is unending but I have to highlight a few that are burned in my brain.
We'll start with arriving .... greeted by Ben and Roger ... wonderful friends.
And then there was touring the mall that housed Borshiems jewelry and other amazing stores.
Gathering our supplies at Sams, thrifting on the thrifting strip and cruising around in 65 degree weather.
And then there was the food ... Terry's incredible hand at baking ... yummmmmm!!
Terry and I made Greg's lasagna recipe together ... and now I know the secret!!
Working on machines, for me 2 lux G's in incredible shape and Brandon's Hoover model 63 ....
And, of course, getting the Bendix, the 2 year project ... I remember working on that machine 2 New Years visits ago .... and now to see it purring away with a load full of colorful napkins.
But the true highlight was the Marantz 2270 receiver connected to either of 2 iPods filled with the most amazing "jukebox" selection .... with Greg, Ben and me singing to whatever tune was playing until about 2:30 a.m. .... nights like these don't happen all that often.
And then my friend John arrived on Friday morning to participate in the festivities ... and yes John, my friends are real people, not avatars.
New Years weekend itself was incredible .... local friends, Greg's parents, food, drink ... the energy was amazing.
I'll thrive on this weekend high for quite some time.
Thanks Greg ... really, it was one of the best ... a great time was had by all.
And now onto another year ..... onward and more to come ....
Glad to have one of the most difficult years of my life behind me!!
Thanks everyone for just what the doctor ordered.!!!
Patrick (and John) from Milwaukee

Looks like you all had a wonderful time. Gorgeous cooking and lovely job with the decorating! I love the Apex Cake-A-Matic. Molded cake never chips or rusts! :-D

It was great seeing old friends again!
Greg, the dinner choice of going to Malara's on News Years Eve was FANTASTIC.
I was happy I managed not to "fall down" this New Years!

Hey Bill, the recipe for the pound cake in the "Apex" mold was really simple. Just used the recipe for pound cake on the box of D.H. Lemon cake mix. The glaze was just powdered sugar, vanilla, a tablespoon of butter, and cream. Really easy but so good.
