The Maytag DE700 and the A702 washer have become the 'daily drivers' this fall and winter - they are working great but the dryer door has an issue. The door just doesn't want to stay latched and it will open slightly while it is running. Fortunately, it doesn't open enough to trip the door safety switch, but I find it a bit annoying.
Before I take the door apart and mess things up (remember what happened when I decided to play with the CLB-6 timer escapement...LOL), I wondered if someone may know the 'right' way to tighten the door latch. I am going to guess there is some kind of a spring that may have slipped... I really do have to take this one apart and make sure the drive and blower mechanisms are well-oiled, too. However, I was hoping to get the DE306 reconditioned first... So many things to do and so little time!! |

This is a fairly common problem as this door latch ages. I don't think you will get into horrible problems if you separate the two door halves and have a look see. |
