I recognize the Agitator . This has got to be from the Late Sixties or Early Seventies.

Ugh, we wish.  This machine is more like from 1985.  If this was truly a 1970 Hotpoint, it would have been an extremely rare solid-basket find.  Hotpoint didn't switch over to GE design until around 1974.

Hotpoint

Yes, this a late 80's Tol programmed model 8500 with the removable handwash agitator and rim-flo filtering. GE design, still a nice machine though, still vintage much like an 80's Filter-Flo.

OK, we're going to have to make a new rule about this. You don't call it a Hotpoint unless you SEE the solid tub, the Fountain filter pan and the outrageously and disproportionately large backsplash. I almost had to call 911. Fortunately I had forgotten the number.

I think I'll coin the term "Filter-Points" for these disappointments. Sounds better than "Hot-Flo's".

i have fond memories of the 1970 hotpoint i used to observe and play with
as a child-used to throw star wars figures in it and watch them circulate.
Clutch and sediment tube problems sent this washer to it's grave in 1981,
caught one last glimpse of harvest gold as i watched it get buried in the
landfill...(kept the motor and control panel)
In 1981,other that pump kits, parts were hard to find for this hotpoint-
got a slightly older white hotpoint for parts(wasn't in bad shape)but it
also went to the dump after parts were taken...
Wish i could go back to 1981 and rescue these LOL

I have fond memories of the early 80's Hotpoint I had as a kid. I've never seen a "real" Hotpoint as mentioned, but you have to realize that to some, probably more so with the 20-something crowd, these later Hotpoint's invoke the same reaction as the old non-GE's do to you and others.

I think I'll coin the term "Filter-Points" for these disappointments. Sounds better than "Hot-Flo's".

Come now, lets not start a war within the GE camp

Sealed

Maybe just a rule that SOME people don't like the newer machines...
