He's selling a "GYRATATOR"

Isn't that what they use to make TATER TOTS ?

The Gyrator produced Maytag's famous Gyrafoam washing action in both conventional and automatic Maytags up until the introduction of the Lint Filter Agitator in the late 50s. Don't disrespect the Gyrator. People reaching down into a conventional washer while the Gyrator was in operation were reported to have had hands and wrists bruised or broken when slapped by one of those high fins.

Kinda pricey

Is it just me or does the price seems kinda steep for this?
I couldn't get the pics to load but it would have to be an EXTREMELY minty pre-1966 for me to even consider that kind of price!

When something is considered an "antique" by the seller, it gives them license to poke a gun in your ribs. For that price, I would expect it to be hauled up from the basement and loaded into my vehicle with all of the care an antique requires. I don't need anybody to call my appliances "antiques." They are old, but their value lies in their construction, function and design, not their designation as "antique." At least they don't just sit there like antique furniture that people get all gooey about. Most of us can point out things about our treasures just as expertly as one of those appraisers on Antiques Roadshow.

The seller calls it a "GYRATATOR" claiming it "immaculate"in pics which are nowhere to be found. I have two gyrators and know all about the famous foam which inspired the handle of our friend Steve. For me, the Gyrator is the most effective Maytag agitator. Don't confuse me with the Maytag bashers. Mainly trying to soothe Brandon that his mistake was nothing compared to the 350 dollar picture-less "GYRATATOR." Any conventional agitator can give the careless hand a good bash.

Here's a pic of the famous gyrafoam. Remember when you told me how to get the tub back to mint? Still on the list! Still think a gyratator, whatever it is, could only make the equally odd tater tot. Thanks for the nudge.

Nothing broken, but it took me one time to learn to stop the machine before reaching down into there. Very vigorous and effective action....deceptively quiet looking though.
