Bad news. I heard back today from the people that had the old GE filter-flo washing machine that I wanted to buy if they would sell it.

They've done junked all of their old appliances or donated a few of them that were in their house. I sure hope they donated that old GE, than throw it away. Makes me heart sink.

I did learn my lesson on this a few years back too (more than once really) but the most notable was when I literally had my hands on a 1962 Kenmore 70, BEAUTIFUL washer and in mint shape, with the rare for that model self cleaning filter. It was at a rebuilt appliance store's back junk pile, just sitting there looking hopeful. I had my truck with me but not my dolly, and I simply couldn't load it myself into the truck. I tried and tried, but figured it would be there the next day. Went back with my dolly and truck less than a day later - the whole yard had been loaded into a recycle dumpster!!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about your heart sinking! It was a beaut too. I did get the agitator out of it, which looks hardly used, but was a great machine to have had in my collection way back then!

So, yes, the moral is - ACT when you can. I should have gone back that very night with my dolly.

Gordon,
Makes you kick yourself 1,000 times, doesn't it? I know how you feel. If ONLY we could go back and redo it. I guess you learn as you go. That GE was a "top of the line" washer, too, mid 80's model, chrome push buttons, 3 chrome knobs in the middle, it was hooked up in their kitchen last time I saw it and it was in wonderful shape.

And to put the icing on the cake, the place where it was at, was 5 minutes away from my house.

They said they replaced all of the old appliances with brand new ones. I think to myself, "Yeah, you replaced it all with junk."

I'll know better next time. LOL

1954 unimatic

my worst "miss"was in 1993 when i found a 1954 unimatic at the dump in good
cosmetic shape-looked it over with interest as i had never seen one before,
noticed a 1954 date on the delco motor-drug the washer away from the main
pile,to a low area next to a litter fence and "camoflaged"the washer with
some tumbleweeds and other debris intending to get it the next day with a
pickup...it rained the next day turning the place into a muddy morass..
A week later returned and found someone found my hidden prize and returned
it to the pile where it got jumbled in with junk and i couldn't get to it!
-I should have jumped the fence after hours and hid it further away or
brought my dolly and moved it to the unfenced area and picked it up that
night...
Anyway years later was thinking about that washer and googled"1954 frigidaire"
-found this place!

That's one reason I drive a pickup truck, and carry at least $50.00 at all times. Ya never know when the ultimate deal will present itself, and I found cash talks!
