Abount like the one I use every day

Mine Model DE503PDG1 here is very similar and from 1976.

The patent plate on mine says

"White Westinghouse Pittsburg, one of the White Consolidated Industries, WCI"

It runs on 240 volts at 23amps; or 208V at 20 amps, or 120 volts at 14 amps.

Mine has an added plate that says "Heavy Duty" and a chrome door handle; the same paint color.

Right side of dial

Got to back watching the super bowl

The plastic clean dial is aged, the aluminum has salt air damage

More info on the similar dryer

The machine here has the added "Heavy Duty" chrome tag; plus the added buzzer.

These are simple robust machines.

The drum uses the "trailer hitch ball" type pivot that rides in a delrin pocket. This is #5303281153 bearing kit or equalivalent

The front of the drum rides on felts; I used #5303937139

The belt is common too; 5303281154 or i.

The motor is quite common new and used. Mine has never failed and it went under salt water in Katrina, I washed in in the bathtub and relubed it.

The cycling thermostat on mine is around 145 to 155 F and common too.

The coil on mine I replaced about 2 years ago, it burned out either by old age; or the salt water bath it saw. the odd thing is the oil broke EXACTLY where the repair kit had an extra standoff to add as a retrofit. The coil kit I used was Q142885 off of ebay and was only 10 bucks. The coil as-is is for 255 Volts, one cuts it down for 240, or more for 208 volts.

As is the stock machine is set up for 240 volts, when used on 208Y it has a tad less heat. The coil kits set up of cutting the coil for 208 volts is because my dryer had a variant used in laundromats too.

The only thing that Katrina ruined was the front filter/vent, the screen rusted out. I replaced this and they are quite common.

Here this is my main dryer.

There are knockouts on the left and right panels if one wants to have the 4" exhaust exit from the sides.

The dryer here has an autodry setting which works well and I use about always. Today I used the low setting to dry a comforter. This just applies 120 volts to the heater coil.

An older dryer like this is also can be wired for 120 volts too, one just connects the wires to the internal lugs differntly. Insteady of havings 5400 watts like 240 volts, one has only about 1350 watts.

it sold for 279.95 back then,$10 more for almond or harvest.

Hood open and drum removed to replace coil

This shot is from roughly 2008, I still do not have the sheet rock added to the lower 4 feet yet

You can see how I painted the inside back in late 2005 with rustoleum paint in the lower 2 feet of the inside of the box.

Looks like the thermostat is 145F in the cyclying.

There is a limit theromstat in black at the top of the coil pan by its lugs.

The delrin bearing can be seen too in this shot.

DRYER COIL ECN STANDOFFS

coil looks like this.

They kit had one adding two standoffs that came with the kit.

The coil broke right in that spot.

Maybe since the old coil only lasted 30 years the new one will last longer?

Closeup of Drum's Trailer Hitch BALL type bearing and it

Looks like I did not get to all the spots with paint.

Dryer Motor and cycling thermostat

The cycling Thermostat is only a simple 2 terminal device.

The low heat setting is by dropping the coil voltage to 120 volts.
/n
Some other brands use a third or 4th terminal where thermostat has an internal resistor that heats the thermostat to bias it higher. ie in a low setting the internal resistor is adding heat and the thermostat cycles at a lower exhaust temperature.
