Hey, I recently bought a 50's vintage home in Atlanta that has a complete set of Youngstown steel cabinets with a 
matching top load dishwasher from Mullins.  I plan to repaint and keep the steel cabinets, but I really want a 
modern dishwasher.  I was wondering if I could advertise the DW on your site for $25. I'm letting it go cheap 
because I want it out of the way, while I'm working on the house.

Everything physically looks in good condition, but the drain looks like it was cut off years ago, so I have no idea 
how far it is from working.

I'm attaching a few pictures. I can take more if need be.

I'd say that he has found a very good use for it at this point. As late as 1958 and for quite a few years before that too, but that is the last time I remember seeing it, there was one of those in a place on the square in Decatur. Are any of you old enough to remember when towns had squares with all of the stores and banks and barber shops etc arranged around the court house? Well this place was Clark Equipment Co. They had some large stuff taking up most of the front room, although this dishwasher was the only interesting thing and frustrating because its lid was latched so it could not be opened. Maybe it was just locked for shipping. Anyway, the real action in the place was in the next room where Mrs. Clark sold records. They actually had boths where you could go and listen to a record before deciding to buy it. What struck me as a very bad business decision, even then, was keeping that beast so long that it became obsolete. A store might have had trouble selling it in 1952, but by 58, everyone who was interested in dishwashers knew it was not something on which you wanted to spend money, especially with those old lines to it. What does it hold, 6 or 8 drinking glasses? I remember at least two homes in the Decatur area that had them so whoever the dealer was, he moved a few, but this one was stuck in time and in that store.

While what you say is true, Tom, (not super large-capacity)... that really isn't a terribly big deal if you have to run a few loads through; the short cycle allows for this. Love the built-in hot water heater, sanitation by definition. It's a wonderful machine, too, for all of those big, cumbersome things that don't easily fit in the other dishwashers (take the rack(s) out) -- Hoover FryPans, the grates from our LP Grill outside (after they soak, of course) both fit with ease. The cute window-lid and the drama of that lid popping open .. nothing beats that (well, maybe our Kitchen-Aid). As much as I love having the Westinghouse set in the kitchen, I do miss that Youngstown DW from time to time.

I remember using that dishwasher a lot when I visited Fred and Robert last spring.  It is really a good dishwasher and I loved how fast it does its job.  It is a great prep dishwasher when you are doing a lot of cooking or baking.

Thank you Robert! I can't believe that I got this one! I am only going to be able to get it shipped in mid-April due to the roads (or lack thereof) in Ogden but I am looking forward to it already!!
