I was Lucky enough to be able to operate the 7402 several times at a friends house and I have to say it kicked Ass! I think these models were a great improvement from the last series with the attached tower. The loading was great and cleaning out of this world. This was the end of the series that used plenty of water to wash!
Enjoy the scans! Peter |

We had the 9922 in a house that we used to live in. Used it every day, it was the best dishwasher I've used thus far. |

And in all the houses we have lived in, the Maytag dishwashers cleaned the best. |

My folks got a Maytag of this era, though a few years newer. Same racks, same loading, same performance. I'm convinced you could fill the dishwasher with cement, let it harden, and run the cycle. The dishwasher would be empty and clean.
It's the best dishwasher they've ever owned. It holds a TON of dishes, and it has always cleaned exceptionally well. More recently, the dishwasher has started to make a strange noise. When the motor turns off, as it coasts down, there is a small squeak as the motor stops. Do any of you know what kind of repair I'm looking at? Great dishwashers, Dave |

It was great to go into stores and watch the clear body display in operation.....if all manufacturers had one of these, there would have been no question of which one washed best and to buy......and I don't understand why they don't have more "working displays" of all machines......
washers, dryers, dishwashers........many of these machines do not have windows, or operate with the door open, and you rely on blind faith that their doing their job...... sorry, for that kind of money, I need to know whats going on inside! ! ! Why do stores have TV's on display showing the picture?.....why not just sell in the box, pay your money, take it home, and take your chances on a great picture....but actually most consumers are at fault just the same, they have to see the picture on a TV....but not how their clothes are washing???? |

Martin its funny that you mentioned the display MT DW that everbody must have seen at one time or another. When my younger brother Jeff worked at an appliance store in the mid 1970s the MT rep came in one day and set up one of thier clear display machines. After my brother watched this display pissing along for a while he asked his boss if he could order a clear plastic display plael for one of the KA KD-17s that they were selling. When a customer would come in looking at dishwashers and they saw the MT demostration Jeff would go over a switch on the KA, I dought they ever sold a MT after people saw the walls of water the KA would throw around.
It was always interesting how much MT talked about thier DWs cleaning ability { and it was very good ] but when it came to automatic washers the official line from MT that there was no difference in performance between MT and the other major brands in cleaning. Check it your self, look at the literature from the 1970s-1980s all they could talk about was reliability they never claimed that they were the best at cleaning and they even lost the reliability claim when the WP DDs really got going in the late 1980s- the 1990s and became the most reliable brand of laundry appliances. |

I have the 7402 at my shore home we load it all ways pack it double stack it and every time the dishes come out sparkling clean. It is a real work horse. It is ran sometimes 2 times a day in the summer because no one likes to wash dishes ( especially when you are at the shore). I am sold on Maytag Dishwasher.

I had a 2000 Version of the same model. It was the T.O.L. E.Q. Plus. It was a killer dishwasher I have never seen a overhead spray arm that large nor have I sense.Well our 1984 Maytag had a full size upper arm but that dishwasher was strange by using the top rack as the main one and the bottom for glasses.I hated that dishwasher cause it had NO grinder at all(The Old Belt Drive) in it and I remember seeing Kitchenaid commercials talking about a cake and being able to grind olive pits.I loved our E.Q. plus till I caught it smoking and trying to catch fire and it would have if I was not in the kitchen.I remember when I was buying that dishwasher Maytag had a line called the Performa. It was a different has anybody ever had one of those are they any good or they junk? They have one for 20 bucks at this used appliance place I go to.I am not really thrilled with my G.E. Monogram it seems that the old brilliant clean wash system cleans better than the pure clean.I just wish they would have told me that there is a screen in front of the pump intake. The Piranha disposer is just for marketing. The holes in this that let water in are so small I know they restrict water.I was wondering if anybody that had one of these E.Q. Plus there was this odd plastic container at the front right of the machine. What was that for? |
