My Hamilton blew the drum belt. The Repair Master is for earlier models and is of little help.
What size belt is needed?
The cabinet is 3 sides solid. There is a service panel in front and it appears the front panel along with the door is removable. Prior models have all the belts in the back. How is this thing cracked open for service?
Thanks! |

Well! Where'd that come from? Something new every day! Thank you for that, Robert! :)
DE705 not listed. My Parts Master only goes up to 1965. On your posted belts guide, I'm going to assume that DE205 - DE505 is the same model family. Going to have to clean up the Filtrator and get it into service first... |

Does your dryer model number start with a "D" or an "H" ? My book shows the Holiday series starting with "H". I think yours is an early model of the Holiday - 27" series. I don't have the parts list, just the service manual for the Holiday line so no belt part-number but I would bet that Larry in Ohio can tell you that from memory and might even have one in stock. (216-661-6966)
The dryer is mostly serviceable from the front, remove the toe rail; grasp and pull the lower panel out to release from the clips then pull down so guide pins on top clear the front panel. Remove the upper-front panel screws located in lower corners. From the bottom, pull out then down on panel so guide pins on side and top of panel clear the holes. Be careful not to damage the two tabs on the base of the panel or the air chamber mounted to the back of the panel. Be careful not to strain wiring harness when moving panel but you can put it over to the right side of the dryer with the door toward the side panel of the dryer.
If you need more, I can scan more of the manual later in the weekend for ya!

Thanks, Greg...
Model DE705W20... I thought the "DE" was "dryer electric" as opposed to DG "dryer gas"... Looks that way on the belt guide and the Parts Master...
Does the manual you have show 2 pulleys and 2 belts in the back, or is it a "belt around the drum" deal?
Bob, I know summer is coming, but the '62 is in the carport and needs to be cleaned up and tried anyway. For the next couple months, a filtrator will work just fine. Besides, I need to remove the mahogany nest in it while the weather is cool and move the machine before they come back to set up house in it... As far as liking the dryer, I love it. You just haven't lived until you have a window in your dryer door. Any dryer is wonderful after the wash load is spun out at 1200 or 1600 in a Miele washer. :) |

I am not sure which belt is used on this dryer, the first thing to do is call Larry @ Modern Parts in Ohio he will know, he may even have one. Other than that save the old belt and compare the length and profile to the belts used on other late 1960s 27" dryers I bet one of these may work. I would try a GE belt WE12X36 or maybe the belt from a 1965-1969 Frigidadare dryer. Modern Parts # is 216-661-6966. |
