Urban Ore in Berkeley has two extremely unusual items that I spotted today at lunch.  The Kenmore is $65 and the '54 Filtrator is $125.  I managed to resist :-), but if you wanted a couple of very nice (and rare) dryers, especially for us California-ites, this is a grand opportunity.

Frigidaire

The filtrator assembly doesn't seem to want to go in all the way on this one; I'm not sure of the cause or cure.

Both the Kenmore and (obviously) Frigidaire are electric.

why can't something like this show up in NJ or the surrounding area? Beautiful and in great shape. Good luck to whoever gets these gems.

OLD DRYERS

The KM is a 1959 model 70 and the frigidare is a 1954 both good dryer projects. Kevin we are trowing good classic dryers away all the time, let me know what you want. Ted and I recycled 7 or 8 dryers last month including three early MT HOHs and several 1960s KMs and WPs. Crushed.

Ooooh!  The Kenmore has the atomic SR thingy!  That didn't translate onto the phone photo I received.

Looks like Urban Ore is worth visiting again.  It was slim pickin's over there for a while after they gave the place a serious douching.

I hope a local member can save one or both of these nice machines.

The Kenmo dryer

I've never seen that dryer!!  It's the mate to the washer that was the other side next door neighbor (opposit side to the LK Combo).  I've always wondered what that dryer looked like.  I think it's cool the temperature ranges are color-coded to the proper cycle on the dial.  It has a lighted control panel too!!!

I haven't seen anything

as nice as those at Urban Ore for a long time. I don't get there as frequently as I used to. Snatch em up! They will send them to the crusher in a heart beat

Darrel,

Urban Ore has a Do-not-pass-GO crusher pile out in the way back of their yard.  I think they recognize that these are not crusher material, or that they should at least  have a chance for rescue before getting booted out to the pile.  Considering what they're asking for them, which is reasonable, they feel they're worth more on the sales floor than on the scrap pile, so that's a good thing.

Maybe it's time for a drive down to Berkeley?

Ralph

They may have softened a bit , I have seen the do not pass go pile. But I have also seen them kick great vintage appliances to the

DNPG pile if they don't sell at the original price. I wouldn't mind having either of those ; they both look to be in clean original

condition , maybe one or the other if they stick around for a few months.......

If you REALLY want it, you'll go through a great amount of trouble and grief to get it!!

Combo:
Do you have any washers from these years that you are willing to part with? Very interested if so. Beltsville is not far from NJ.
Thanks, Kevin
