That is *way cool.*

Rotary knobs over touchscreens any time. And lighted in colors, best of all. The people who designed that unit really understood ergonomics. Spin = red, is self-explanatory "keepa you hands outta here!" (plus or minus tweaking the lid switch!:-)

My mom had a Westinghouse electric stove from the mid-50's that had similar lighted control knobs that changed color with each setting. What a joy to see!

Very beautiful!!!! I can't believe you have the time and energy to be jealous on that combo! You have such a wonderful set there!

BTW, are we testing backgrounds here? I love the new one!!

That is very cool! My F&P IWL12 has cutsie smilie faces and graphics on the LCD, but it would add some serious interest if the backlight changed colors as well (which F&P does on their wall ovens). The DEGX1 dryer has no LCD (blah), but does have various colored LEDs -- red, amber, blue.

Louis Jon has plenty of time for some combo jealously!

Yes this week I updated to code to make it much easier for me to add new wallpaper backgrounds for our posts. So then I was experimenting with adding light opacity color to some of the new wallpaper backgrounds. I can't decide if it makes the post text harder to read. What do you guys think? Maybe the yellow should be a shade lighter?

Whatever happened to the cool machines . . . ?

No more lights, not much action. The American washing machines have become quite boring over the past 20 years or so. I wonder what we could come up with if we all got together and started an appliance company? Can you imagine? LOL.

I have a Westinghouse stove and a cooktop that light the surface unit controls with colors for the heats and a beautiful Westinghouse deep fryer with a color lens behind the dial to do the same.

Jon, are all washes green, rinses yellow and all spins red? Is all of the fine fabrics cycle lavender? I don't understand when the timer dial has one cycle where this Fine Fabrics section is.

Robert, the thing that makes that most recent background hard to read is the darkness of the lady's dress. All of the rest of the backgrounds are fainter.

It's little things like this that make vintage machines so damn cool. Very nice machine, Jetcone!

I couldn't agree with you more Eugene, and all done without tiny electronic circuits like we have today. Vintage washers are just sooooo fun!

My '56 GE range also has color heat selector pushbuttons as well as my '56 Hotpoint washer that Greg gave me has colored wash and rinse temperature buttons.

Thanks Tom, that makes sense about the background wallpaper color. Maybe I need to have her change her dress, hhmmmmmmm. I'll experiment with that over the weekend when I have some time.

Tom Turbo, the fine fabrics cycle is the last 3 to 5 minutes of the wash cycle.

Wowser - it's a Westy in living colour!

Jon:

That little model makes me wish I was a 1950's housewife! It is just "dreamy". Swooooooonnnnnnn......

Whoever the designer was that thought up the *lavender for fine fabrics* should be annointed! Very innovative indeed!

Do you think

jdinstl is already on his way to your house, jet? He didn't invite me on the theft mission this time, but I wonder if his foot isn't in the carbeuretor. You know, Robert's Westy, which he coveted oh so much, isn't even half as sexy as yours.

It is a nice machine and quiet too, more quiet than the speed changer models. My L-8 is much noisier in wash than this 3 belt design.

I have a little pump tension problem to solve this weekend but it should be doing its first virgin load over the weekend and I will post pics!
Yes Tom Bob is right the last 3 minutes of wash are Violet/Lavendar so you can find the cycle easily. The lighted dial only comes on when you press the light switch over to the left and then the whole panel also glows with subdued florescence!!

Take a peek...

Enjoy everybody!

To say that this machine is GORGEOUS is an understatement!!! Jon, you've done a great job...she looks SHOWROOM MINTY FRESH! And I can just hear that quiet wash!! Can't wait to see the maiden load pics!

LOVE the multiple colors on the timer...that is something I haven't seen on any machine, modern or vintage!! Well, except for your '58 Duomatic with the "Jet Engine Controls"!

Dear Mr.Foraloysius

jetcone's profile picture
AS YOU know! Its like a Chinese puzzle down there but the UberPlan is to have the Neptunes penned in beside each other and the Westy Matching dryer sitting beside Mr.Fabulous so its an easy step to place the freshly washed clothes from Mr. F into Mrs. F!

Thank you all for your kind comments , they make my day! Its fun to work on these but if there is no one to display them too then that cuts the fun in half.

And Mr Mayer, thank you for your consistency!! HAHHAH!

No, that is his standard pose at work. When I take him down to the shop he likes to sit in my lap when I am on the computers.

Its a sort of resignation to the fact that while at work work comes first not him. Which is the EXACT opposite at home.

Jon
