I don't know how to link, but somebody in Indiana is selling a mint Frigidaire 1-18 set on eBay. Is a club member thinning out his collection?

OH MY GOD

Ok, I just had to pick myself off the floor. First I thought I would love to have that set ( I grew up with 1-18's and have always wanted another set)..Then I saw the price and thought I was a little high..Then I saw who the bidder was and passed out. Chistopher (my BF) in cahoots with my mom planned to by the machines and suprise me.
I sooooo I hope I get this!!!! If I do I have TON's of pictures to share
Donnie

And others in a previous post as the seller has tons of other vintage appliances up for auction.

Just for the record, the washer though appears in excellent condition is not MIB. The seller had the front repainted, and if one examines the wash drum closely the upper portion is has a brownish sort of tinge. Still a nice unit, and would make a plus to anyone's collection. (Read: hope Automagic gets em).

Seller seems to know allot about vintage appliances, and how to restore them. Maybe he is already a memeber? If not someone really ought to make the effort. *LOL*

Yes...Maytagluver here...careful what ya say :>>>

Yup, I'm clearing out a few things...it was difficult giving up my 1-18's...it had to happen sooner or later.
Still have my WP from GregM I picked up this summer in MA.
A FUN machine, also Westy FL I enjoy quite a bit and a 74' WM bd that I also enjoy and a couple Maytags.
It was mentioned on another thread some time ago how "boring" they are..I'll agree, but ya still gotta love them fine old 'TAGS'.
As for vacs...still have all my Lux collection. As well as a few mixers and fans left.
Thanks for a fun site ! ! ! ! !
Al :D

Good luck Donnie! That's like the set I have, except in white and in much better shape than mine. Washer looks like the Model WC (a fairly common model from what I've seen), and if the dryer's electric, then it's a DEI. You'll love these machines...the last of the TRUE Frigidaires!

Al, on a different note, I'm eyeing your Hoover Convertible and Slimline...I'm using a slightly modified 1020 as a daily driver, but I need an all-original model for display! And that yellow Slimline is just too cool to pass up!

Hey Austin

Greetings Austin...if it doesn't move....it'll be yours.
I've got nobody to "hand things down to" and I would be proud to pass the Slimline down to you, after all, we've gotta keep the interest in "the-good-stuff" up for generations to come!!

Take Good Care

Looks like ROLLERMATIC bid 8 seconds before
the end of the auction and won. -ouch-

Donnie- Don't worry, you'll find another set.
Just keep looking and don't give up.

Well....

When Christopher called me this morning, I thought he was just kidding....Then I found out the awful truth.
On the bright side now I can keep looking for an even better set.
Anyone have any leads???
Later

Oh, there could be several 1-18's from Georgia on eBay in the future. One can only have so many 1-18's when there is a bevvy of Unimatics and Multimatics to be had... ;)
