This may seem like an odd question to some, but it's been on my mind so I'm going to ask it.

Is anyone aware of a suds "saving" valve attachment that would attach to the drain hose of a standard (not factory manufactured suds-saver) TL washing machine?  This valve would be a 2-way diverter valve with a pressure-sensitive mechanism that would be preset in one position when you began a load of laundry.  After the valve was set the first water coming out of the machine would be diverted into the suds-saving sink.  The pressure of that water flow would trip the "release" mechanism of the valve in such a way that as soon as the full pressure from wash water drain subsided the diverter mechanism would release to its "resting" position and direct the rest of the water from the cycle to the other outlet which would be routed into the standpipe or other sink.  That way you wouldn't have to be present to move the hose around after the wash water drain.  I'm not sure if I dreamt this, but it seems to me that I saw a Whirlpool designed valve of this type at some point in the early 1990s.

There are several ways to get the suds back into the washer and that's an issue for another day...

You are talking about the first sorta add-on suds saver device that was made for the early WP DD machines. I was told that it rarely worked properly. John had some of them.
