My brother & I had been saving our shekels for the past month or two and made the 7 hour drive to the Woody Woodrum advertising collection auction in Dayton OH.  The auction was a 3 day affair starting on Thursday & running through Saturday.  Most of his 1500 lot collection was petrolina, but he had a healthy collection of ice cream, beer, & soda advertising.  He also had a whale of a collection of early appliance advertising.  We had about 45 lots targeted and we came away with 15 lots and no money left over.  I took a couple of quick shots when we unpacked the signs.  We have yet to find where we are going to place them and we need to find more electricity.

Did anyone else here attend the auction or watch it on proxibid or liveauctioneer?

I hope you all enjoy these shots (it's hard to take shots of neon, so bear with me on that).

Sign #1  Philgas Appliances neon

Automagic flourescent lit sign.  It glows a neat warm green that is really hard to tell in photos, but is cool in person.

And I thought right away about all the rich red-orange brick you have in the warehouse, and how stunning the signs and clocks would look hung up on the walls.

Thanks to all of you folks for all the great compliments.  Mickeyd, I can't wait to get them on the brick walls.  We have some other signs on the walls already and they look great against the brick.

Robert,  my bro. & I have been into neon & lighted advertising for a while.  You just can't beat the glow and the sometimes quiet hum of the transformer.  One of these days I'll post the rest of the advertising collection.

I like neon signs a lot-but alas for my neon craze have to settle for neon beer signs-no appliance ones here-only one I have is a neon sign for Royal vacuum cleaners-deep "Royal" blue.
