The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Saturday Business Section featured a front page article on the rising share of the appliance market that is going to Lowe's and Home Depot. In the next to the last paragraph of the article, is the news that Lowe's will add Samsung to its more than 1,100 stores next month. Home Depot has just completed the roll-out of LG appliances to 1,949 stores. I wonder if these two manufacturers will market some of their smaller laundry equipment over here.

Sumsung makes sense in light of the Maytags "Maysungs" F/L-ers that are offered, no?

that's right.I just heard that we (The Home Depot) are going to drop Maytag and bring in either Whirlpool, KitchenAid, or Frigidaire.Nobody seams to be sure which one but they are sure that Maytag is going away.

WP at HD

Home Depot used to sell a lot of WP merchandise, but WP had trouble with Y2K conversion work on their computers and were not able to fill HD orders on time so HD dumped WP. Maybe they figure if WP buys Maytag they will still have to deal with a WP-owned entity so they might as well deal with a line that has promise instead of Maytag. Sunday evening on our way to dinner, we drove past a OLD Maytag dealership, with stores in several locations and it is G-O-N-E. What's left to sell when they can get it at a discount elsewhere and all that is left for you is the service work for angry owners of crummy appliances?

Whirlpool will do just fine without the need for big, bad home depot to sell their goods.
