Hey Guys,

I've just bagged myself a great find, and thought I would share it with you.

It's a Hotpoint 9530 and as you can see it's in great condition. I wasn't really looking to add anything else to my collection, but I stumbled across this one completely by accident and there was no way I was going to let it go. I picked it up at a very reasonable price from a retired appliance engineer from Torpoint in Cornwall. Apparently it's been used in a holiday home for most of it's life, and the house has only been occupied for four months of the year for the last however long.

I'm really pleased as well that all of the edging strips are still in place. My 9517 only has one remaining on the right side. There is a slight chip in on the left strip on this machine, and the guy that I have bought it from has even told me that he will replace it for me before he drops it off to me on Wednesday. Good times!

I did put a quick video together and have posted it on my YouTube page if any of you want to have a gander. My username is washerboy84. I will make some better ones once it is here and installed, although it's probably nothing that you guys have not seen before!

Fabulous catch there Marc,

From the very first series of 95## machines these only had a short run in 1987 before being replaced with the 9534 in 1988.

My daily machine is an Almond 9520 800rpm version and they were a vast improvement in terms of programming over the 5 digit 95 series machines with improved spins and longer distribution periods to ensure the machine caught up with water drainage and a really good rinse.

Nice of the engineer to replace damaged parts before delivery, few and far between are these engineers.

Would be an idea to remove the sump hose before use and clear out any rusty coins or anything collected in the catch pot and run it on a boil wash first to remove any long standing grease or dirt from it only having occasional use.

Il dig out the pics of the brochure and post them this evening

Rob

what a nice find! Always loved the 95 series and thanks Rob for the info above. I really must get myself an old machine at some point - it's just getting here and storing it is such a challenge lol. I'll be sure to check out the vids :)

Thanks Rob, I will look forward to seeing those. Thanks for the advice also.

I've been quite lucky with this one actually Chris. I would have taken it with me today, but Matt isn't here at the moment to help me get it out of the car at this end. I can't get it up the steps by myself. The guy that I've bought it from is going to deliver it and help me carry it up to the house for an extra £5, which I thought was very kind. Especially since it's a fair few miles and a ferry crossing for him to get here.

Vids probably won't be up for another couple of weeks as I'm not going to have the time to get it installed and cleaned up, but I'll be using it as my daily driver for a while, so there will be plenty of footage. I need to get hold of an anti-siphon kit too before I can use all of the programmes.
