And keep them coming.

I wonder will we ever get to see one of those Bendix dishwashers again. Mid - late 1970s there was also a Kenwood version - dunno if this was just to keep the then tradition of Kenwood dishwashers going - apart from the exterior they appeared to be the same. There was also a smaller version of the Kenwood too, not 45cm as today but a bit wilder - it might have been 10 place rather than 12 place. These machines were of Italian origin (I suspect Philco), there was also an identical Electrolux with large square buttons instead of round.

Always loved the Bendix 7142A washer although it was not the best rated at the time. Note how Hoover had a "badged" version of teh smaller Bendix dryer too.

Yippee! I have been able to sign in!!!!!!

Hi Paul.

Thankyou so much for posting the Bendix brochure - assuming it came from where I think it came from, then I know you had to pay a lot of money for it, so thankyou for sharing it with us all.

I too puchased a handful of the other classic brochures that the ebay seller had for sale, a month or so back, and I actually met her. Both she and her husband were genuinely interested in what we all do for a hobby and showed great interest in the Hotpoint 18580 that I had in the back of the car at the time, actually asking whether they could have a look at it! Having parked a fair way from their house, I moved the car to their front gates to show them the machine.

They are a lovely couple, who acquired all the brochures by filling in one single form!
Dont know whether it is still done today but, having just got married, one of the offers they took up with some organisation or other was to fill in a form.

The details on this form were then passed on to various companies and organisations, who then forwarded brochures and catalogues to the newly wed couple to try and entice them to buy their wares.

Hence the load of brochures that were suddenly made available via ebay, all of which had sat in boxes in the loft since 1978/79.

The Bendix brochure obviously did the trick, because they purchased a Bendix 7147 as a consequence of it.
She spoke in glowing terms about the machine and it had a long life, only being pensioned off as a consequence of chronic rust issues.
She was very fond of it and it had few repairs ever done to it, during its lifetime.

I purchased the Colston Commodore leaflet, Creda Laundry and Hotpoint Laundry brochures, though I havent managed to photograph the Hotpoint brochure yet (but its the Liberator one that most will have seen anyway).

I didnt contribute to the big price tag you paid for the Bendix brochure Paul - though I intended on bidding for it, when I saw where the price was heading, I just sat and watched in mesmorised awe.
Thanks again for sharing it - its a lovely piece of rare Bendix history.

Here are two of the ones I managed to acquire:

Al!

You mentioned a Kenwood version of the Bendix dishwasher!!!

Just remembered, i also bought the 'THORN guide to Planning Your Kitchen', which detailed a large selection of the appliances made by Bendix, Kenwood, Moffat and Tricity.

It details the Kenwood dishwashers.

There were two of them, both sold alongside the Bendix 7864 which, in the Thorn brochure is unit mounted in such a way as to match the famous Tricity built in fridge, freezer and ovens...

The Bendix was the top of the range, 12 place setting machine.

The Kenwood A1210 was the middle of the range, with 10 place settings.

Just discovered that I didnt take a photograph of that machine, as it has its door open wide - the picture below is from a Which magazine report...

The bottom of the range machine was the compact, 8 place setting Kenwood A1208...

Hi Paul.

Yeah the lady did say someone buys stuff from her a lot. Yeah, the Bendix stuff cost an arm and a leg, lol. My Gran and Mum had the 7147 and just loved that machine.

Thank you for sharing all your stuff, any info on the service MK72.

I did leave a post on here as I am trying to trace an old Bendix washer my aunty had, it was the same same as the homelaundry centre, and would love to see some pics of the old girl, lol.

Take care

Paul
