I've been waiting weeks to be able to post something like this.  Finally on a Saturday morning I get to enjoy my machines instead of work on them!  Here is the WO-65 in her new home washing a load of sheets.

By saying a special thank you to all of the club members who have helped me make these machines functional again.  Thank you for the machines,  your time, advice, encouragement, and spare parts!  Next I'm devloping a scrapbook detailing all of the technical information about each machine, now I'm getting into the fun stuff!  Thanks again guys!

Joe, congratulations on all the fun you are now getting to experience after all the pains-taking restoration efforts.  And my aren't you brave doing that load of sheets in the Unimatic.  I did a same type of load in austin's Unimatic and it still ended up going oob on each spin.  (although you have an updated pulsator with 3 rings).

Very nice collection, Joe!  I've never had a 1-18 dryer, do you like them?  Is your Philco in the weekly lineup of washing methods too?

Well,

I didn't have a bit of trouble with balancing on those sheets, she was smooth as silk.  About the Philco...  It's rarely used, maybe once every six weeks since it's so unique and special.  Only thing I don't like about it is the slow spin speed.

Very lucky Joe.  I ought to know how to properly load a Unimatic, even with sheets.  The ego was a little bruised given I was washing in front of about 20 people lol.  I've never used a 1/18 dryer, what do ya think of it.  is the Filtrator in working order yet?  Great in the winter time for drying towels.

Oh my

The 1-18 dryer is just wonderful.  I love both of mine, things dry quickly and are finished nicely.  I loved the first one so that I wanted the second one.  The Big door GE that I have is in no way superior, it takes forever and is easy to leave things wrinkled.

The filtrator is in full working order and has been since about the 2nd week it came in the door and I've had it about 2 years.

I think sometime this summer it may be due for another full cleanout.  Oddly enough I don't like my towels done in the Filtrator like so many here have mentioned enjoying.  I don't like the extra softness that it gives them, but that's just me.  I do enjoy the filtrator a great deal though for my clothes if I have time to wait for it.  I use it in all seasons because my basement is air conditioned but it certainly is nice to get all that free heat off of it in the winter.

1-18 dryer

The dryer does a nice job and it's large tub allows lots of room for fluff.  Even the day it was new the dryer rumbled on take off like it had a bad roller but it would smooth out about 5 minutes in.  The dry time was reasonoable given I was washing loads twice as big as before.  I wish mine would have had a long cool down period on permanent press.  I always wondered if some Norge technology had beem aqcuired in both the washer and dryer with drum shapes, semi neutral drain and dryer design.

The balancing of the custom deluxe, was it always one that required you to distribute the load evenly, unlike mahines that had the self balancing? That was always one thing I remember, the machine would unbalance easily.

Balancing

With most any solid tub Frigidaire balanced loading is important. It typically is done in a X style pattern. They also much prefer a full load compared to a small one and you can pretty much forget doing a single piece or two and getting it to balance easily.

Thanks for the input. Now I understand why she never had a problem and I could make the thing walk and have her look at me like it is your problem you fix it. I guess that makes me want one of these machines all the more, just for the memories of watching it, and hearing it make all the sounds she knew as normal and facinated a kid like me. I would give anything in the world to have her and the washer for just another washload togather over a pot of coffee. The things that make a 38 year old man laugh and cry at the same time.

Love the badges on the fronts too!

I liked my 1-18 dryer too it dried very nicely. John LeFever told me to give it up, said it was an awful dryer! But he's a naughty boy! O why o why did I listen?
