Awesome! Thanks for posting, I love reading these manuals and brochures. Thanks for sharing it with us, could you get a photo of the washer? |

Not really sure what did the Maytag in. Unfortunately I wasn't consulted. I'm sure part of it was the 15 - 20 loads a week on a farm. Four boys and a farmer husband are hard on a washing machine! It seems that 11-13 years was about my mother's average for a washing machine. The 1971 Kenmore 70 was replaced with another Kenmore 70 in 1982. The Maytag replaced the Kenmore in 1993 because the local Sears store told her they couldn't get her a suds saver but the local Maytag dealer in Hastings could still special order one.

The fabric softener dispenser has openings just under the top rim of the cup, and when the washer goes into its first spin drain, the liquid goes up and out of the cup into the area around where it sits, and is held there by centrifugal force. When the spin stops, it then drains down through the inside of the lint filter inside the agitator, and into the tub. Very simple, but effective. |

Other manufacturers also used this principal for "add-on" fabric softener dispensers. I know that Kenmore made a slip-on dispenser for the Super Roto-Swirl and the Dual-Action agitators. I'm guessing that they also made them for others and that Whirlpool also made them for the Surgilator. I also seem to think I have seen one that fit on top of the GE agitator above the filter-flo pan.
