Hey, have recently picked up a 'new' machine, it being a Whirlpool AWM1866. Seems a very sturdy machine, however is starting to show it's age.

Bit of rust along the bottom, kick plinth missing, and it will only fill and pump out if the extra rinse button is pressed? (Think its been taken apart by a butcher and put back together by said butcher lol).

Those Aqua Line machines were very good quality - my parents had one for about 14 years, one of the last Philips/Whirlpool models with a variable thermostat but looked very similar to that one. Never gave them a moments trouble in 14 years.

Spin drain

Does this machine do the wonderfull spin drain like the 1970's/80's Phillips machines did? or is it a completely different breed?

I had one of those

zanussi_lover's profile picture
My mum got a Whirlpool AWM820 800rpm spin washer in 1993, she got it from Radio Rentals, it was still working in 2001 but my mum decided to get a new washing machine, as she wanted one with a faster spin.

Never gave us a moments trouble at all..apart from in 1998 a sock getting stuck in pump.

Great machine!! it only had 3 buttons instead of 4, On/Off, Rinse Hold and 800/500 rpm spin button.
