Given how busy I've been lately, I need to go pick up another washer like I need a hole in my head, but...

One of the service techs who comes into my store gave me a lead on a Norge washer. All I know about it is that it's about 35 years old, has a failing motor, and may need a bearing. I'm supposed to go and see about extracting it from a basement on Saturday afternoon. Is it okay to transport a Norge on its side, or should other methods be used? Are there any precautions I should take when moving it?

Also, I'll likely post it for sale here (very inexpensive), if inyone's interested and it doesn't catch my fancy.

Thanks,
Dave

I'll report back once I get it. (Pics will have to wait until my roommate gets back from vacation with my camera).

Hopefully, with more than a couple of people, especially if it's in a basement!

Pix to come when my roommate gets back with my camera, hopefully Tuesday.

It's an upper MOL machine I think. It has a slide-out bleach dispenser and a Burpalator agitator. The tub is gray porcelain. It also has an exposed fill flume, instead of the later hidden one. I have the FS dispenser and the lint filter pan, but the pan is in bad shape. The white FS dispenser is in good shape.

The control panel says "Heavy Duty 20 Lbs." It also says "Norge 50th Anniversary" and 25 (is that a series, like Kenmore's 60 and 70 series?). There is a timer dial, a water temp. dial (5 settings), a water level dial (infinite, but marked in pounds of capacity), and a speed selector (4 settings).

The washer looks to be in good shape, cosmetically, but I haven't opened it up yet.

Did I do good?
Dave

Now all you need is a matching Norge flocker-dryer!
