Ahh,
Ariston Dialogic.
I had one of those in the late 90s, was a good machine. Worked well, was very quiet, 5kg load and 1000 spin.

That dialogic was interesting,

I'm sure that the dial pushed out and revealed more buttons. Anyone have any literature of its predecessor, the Mullinello?

For my two-penny worth, an Ariston machine used in a BBC ident which was submitted to them!

I have the brochure for that Digilogic.

I also saw one in person. I loved the futuristic dial with the options built in!

Not sure how popular they were?

sorry I meant this one!!!

The unknown Ariston is a WF561. Nevertheless, these machines are obvious Aristons badged as Hotpoint.

to be honest id rather see the Ariston badge on the Hotpoint machines. and i think its horrible what Indesit has done to the Ariston brand!

...i think its horrible what Indesit has done to the Ariston

Well, I must say that Indesit company as we know it today IS the old Ariston! Ariston and Indesit, till the 80s were competitors and Ariston bought Indesit in 1984 if I recall correctly the year, then in 2007 they changed the name from Merloni Elettrodomestici (Not to be confused with Antonio Merloni, Merloni Termosanitari or Merloni Progetti) to Indesit Company as Indesit was the most recognized name.

Then to harmonize the brand name as the UK was the biggest market for the line (outside of Italy) and separate Ariston (solar panels, boilers and HVAC systems), it was decided to name all Ariston appliances first Hotpoint-Ariston and then drop the Ariston name altogether.

So "Indesit" didn't do anything to "Ariston" it was done all by itself!

my opingion,

A Ariston is a Ariston and a Fred(random brand) is a Fred. Rebadging is WRONG! If you come up with a product, Fred cant call it his!

Post# 527648 , Reply# 26   6/29/2011 at 15:07 (4,655 days old) by aegokocarat (United Kingdom)

Hotpoint can call it ''hotpoint'' because ariston is a traidmark of indesit company as is hotpoint, we did get ariston branded models but they had the hotpoint drum with blue lifters (paddles) and a round door

Sorry to bring this thread up again.. But..

..I think Dialogic is next to return?

Ok, over the past two years or so, pretty much a year after the round door machines were introduced from Hotpoint (as obviously Ariston no longer exists) Indesit company dropped Aquarius, and Aquarius+ (and already dropped First Edition). [Style, and Experience Launched, and still Experience exists]
However recently the latest range (Argos, AO.com etc) see's indesit company bringing back the Aquarius name, First Edition range and a Extra Range (Yes there used to be Aquarius Extras, and Ultima Extras if I remember right?).
In May Indesit Company will officially launch the Hotpoint Dialogic machine (Looks like an Indesit Moon I thought at first, but then when I found this thread thought, its definitely like the old machines).
www.indesitcompany.com/pages/_sav... (Its on Page 18).

Just thought I would bring up this, as I wonder really why Indesit dropped Aquarius, First edition etc, and then recently brought it back, with Extra, and now Ariston's Dialogic brand?? Are they in a Crisis?? Or have they actually realised that Aquarius, and First Edition are Hotpoint heritage - the names mean something, and Dialogic is Ariston Heritage? Will Aquarius appear on machines outside of the UK?
What next, a Hotpoint Margherita???

Looks very much like the new dialogic will be smart phone compatibility with wifi capability. And will be fridges as well as washing machines.

Interesting to see that a) their market share is decreasing, though they are still making a small profit on sales and b) that they're ramping up a laundry factory in Turkey.

I personally won't buy anything hotpoint etc again. The build quality has been rubbish in the machines I've bought. Nearly everyone I know now has a Beko washer partly thanks to me cos they have seen how good my machine works.
I grew up with hotpoints when I was a kid and most of the family all had the same machines as they were well built and pretty reliable. Indesit in my opinion has destroyed a good name with the cheap junk they are producing now
