I installed a new set of front-load Maytags in a giant house today, replacing a set of Maytag Neptunes that were moved to a rental property a few blocks away. While the movers were there, the owner wanted "an old set" that was in the basement of the house removed and trashed. Oh, we'll have none of that, I thought but hadn't seen the set so had no idea what to expect was down there. It was bought as second pair and used fairly rarely over the years since it was installed. The washer began to leak so it was just easier to get rid of them than to try to fix them. Can you guess where this washer is leaking from? Typical for a Maytag, the water inlet aerator. Not much in features, BOL in fact but they both sound like new machines and other than some cleaning and a new inlet kit, should be good to go. I have a good friend who is looking for her first house so this will make a nice housewarming. Nothing says lovin' like a gift of major appliances!

Those have a handsome quality to them. But what's up with the detergent dispenser on the agitator? ;-)
Almond...yes. The heartbreak of when you find a machine you love, only to read closely in the description that it's "off-white."
Well, you know. Just make the room darker. Works for lots of things! |

What models are these?
The almond buttons would seem to date them along with the 10 series from 1980-85ish. I've never seen a 10 series machine with the "pale" face other than the true BOL A110 model which I don't think was offered in colors and also didn't have a "Fabricmatic" delicate cycle. I also assume the washer has the pre-orbital "long stroke" transmission? |

I think this looks an awful lot like an A510, the MT manual I have says the 510 is avail in white and decorator colours, so perhaps the almond colour meant there was a pale face panel. |

You're right about the two cycle models, we had a Paleface standard capacity washer with two water levels, no dispenser(s). These Palefaces were around a long time, into the later 12 series with brown buttons and knob. I've not seen these in almond before, usually they were white. They pop up on CL fairly regularly, but this price was better.
These are: (L)A182, 803539 JT & (L)DE180, 770239 JR I had almond kitchen appliances for so many years, it's just burn-out I guess. Better than more Gold! (The profile picture is Jean Shaw!) |

A reading from the book of Maytagus, Heres everything you need to know about the 510, and then some. |

Especially your thinking "Oh we'll have none of that" ! And "This needs no explanation"! LOL!
Oy never trusted any appliance that looked like it was just dumped out of a can of condensed mushroom soup-PERIOD!

Almond eh? Now that you made me look, my apartment stove and fridge are almond. DW is black with woodgrain panel. Yep, it's an 80s complex. I've been here 3 years, couldn't have told you the colors if you asked me. Not something I pay attention to.
"Decorator" colors eh? M-u-u-u-a-a-a-h-h! The way fashion trends change, they need appliances with a 'color' knob. Or mood paint. |
