Very cool display! Love that Parnall, so cute looking next to the Triomatic Bendix. Did tumble dryers have more of a niche market, used for specific drying tasks, etc? Most Americans would see a return of washday drudgery using that for all their washing!

Hey Greg, yes indeed, hard to think mum didnt have an electric washer for the first two years of married life and me, then got the Servis twintub and only had her first automatic after 18 years of marriage....couldnt imagine that today - have seen many wedding lists with a washing machine on it - but with make model & colour fully specified!!

thanks for replying and thanks for the address of the museum, I will hopefully upload some photos of my bosch dishwasher and my grandparents AEG's and Bosch washing machine (not al hers, she lives in a retirement flat, these are in a communal area.

Amberley House Museum

Adam Hart-Davis filmed the early history of the washing machine up to the 1960`s there and then filmed some of my washers for the later timeline, (although for 8hrs filming it only lasts 10mins) wish I had all that floor footage!!!
