Well, it has been a while since I updated y'all on the Bendix bolt-down I picked up.
I did find out what stopped the machine eons ago. Personally I think it is a little bit of a design flaw. Apparently years of detergents and water migrated to the point where the wiring harness and the outer drum meet. The harness had horrible arc-through-char. The picture doesn't quite do justice. Actually the wiring in the bundle is largely melted together. Why the designers had the cloth harness touch the metal drum is beyond me. You're asking for trouble. I really like to keep things original but this harness is just beyond repair. The wires had arced open in some places and had arced to other wires in the bundle. What a mess! I did fix the wiring though; just enough to ensure that the basic functions of the washer still work.. and they do. Next task, remanufacture a harness. Your opinions please: Where do y'all buy your shop-stock wiring for washer repairs? Different colors would be necessary. I may just go through with this. |
