So the place I just moved into has the popular may tag dryer/dryer stack. I'm unfamiliar with the cycles, though: is regular = high heat, perm press = medium, and delicate = low, or is it just one temp with cooling periods?

So I should expect three distinct temperatures? I haven't stuck around to check whether this is what's happening, but I'll try to see if I can detect a difference
